Re: Everton FA Cup
I agree with RRB, it's better to play City in the semi-final rather than the final. We freeze on the big stage, so meeting them on the smaller stage of a SF may be the lesser of two handbrakes.

Re: Anelka Banned 5 matches
Quartz, how long are you going to use this forum as a platform for your right wing views? You state rumour as fact and border on bizarre. Al-Husseini was a catalyst for the Auschwitz? Really? I'm sure the Nazi's didn't need outside assistance for their genocide. The fabled trip to Auschwitz was repo...

Re: other games this weekend
I agree with g88ner to an extent. We are top of a tough league after 24 games. I expect us to crumble to 3rd or 4th but that is only because I have learnt over the past decade that hope can seriously damage my health. I'm trying to limit myself to 10 moments of hope throughout the season. I've got a...

Re: Natalie's Deadline Day Titfest Thread
How can Wenger say £37m is too much to pay for future world class talent but accept a £24m 3 years contract for a has been talent who hasn't competed for a trophy for over a decade?
Is it just another greedy man in football who enjoys complaining about the greed in football?

Re: Mid week games 28/29
Of course a non-oligarch owned club can compete. Ask Manure.
It takes ambition, astute management and luck. We haven't had any of those for a while.

The shoe has been on the other foot northbank. No fuss made by the press and no missiles.

Re: Walcott - which position is best etc?
Really enjoyed the game. I thought Walcott made some good runs, especially for the first goal where he took the two CBs away. There is some piss poor reporting of his gesture http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/25609127 Is just an example. I don't remember Bale's 2-1 gesture being so hyped and I d...

Re: Anelka - Quenelle gesture
We have debated the history of the region before. Your view is quite simply an interpretation of historical events which suits the agenda you are advocating. As a moderator, it may be best if you post a link to that thread rather than us going over this again. Would you call those opposed to the int...

Re: Anelka - Quenelle gesture
Quartz, it appears you are saying that for a non-Jew to be against Zionist principles then they would be anti-semitic. This if true, would be a preposterous, offensive and bigoted statement.

Re: NEWCASTLE GAME THREAD
The lack of trophies doesn't bother me as much as it seems to bother the press. It's the fact that we haven't genuinely competed for 8 years. If we are in contention for the league going into the last 3-4 games of the season then I'll be a happy gooner. Nobody has the right to the league/CL/FA and t...

Re: other games this weekend
Pundits have suggested there is so much money in the EPL that it is impossible to bribe the players. The referees are the obvious weak link.

Re: NEWCASTLE GAME THREAD
I agree people go to extremes but the substitutions added more pressure to our exceptional back 4 + Flamini. Fortunately, they were outstanding today, as was TR7. You've got to call a spade a spade though. The choice of subs did us no favours in those last 12 minutes and nearly gave countless gooner...
