OPTIMISM FOR 09-10

As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.

Pessimistic at the moment, the required changes haven't been made so far but there is still time so I'll save the throat slitting for when the season starts.

I'm usually pessimistic about my optimism, and optimistic about my pessimism. I have two glasses, one is half full and the other is half empty

I think it was Joe Pesci, in Casino, who said "let's not start suckin' each other's dicks just yet"!

A good start and great performances by Vermaelen, Song, Denilson et al.
The test is how long these good performances can be sustained.

In terms of half full or empty, I would have been a bit disappointed with some of the performance at Celtic, this time last season. Now I couldnt give a flying hoot, a win is a win and I was delighted on Tuesday.

By the time we have played united we will know how much laaaager has been spilt.

As probably one of the most pessimistic of fans, I find myself being drawn into the foolish world of opptomism following our first two performances, a victory on saturday followed by a good result against utd, and I will have set myself up nicely for stomach churning disappointment.
