Has anyone watched a game in 3D yet? If so, what's it like?
One of my locals has just had the Sky 3D service installed and have got the Scum match on on Wednesday as well as the World Cup so quite looking forward to the experience.
Being a red member, was not able to get a ticket so I hear the 3D showings is the closest you can get without being there.
These are the remaining fixtures presented by Sky 3D this season;
Sun 11 April: Blackburn Rovers v Manchester United
Wed 14 April: Tottenham Hotspur v Arsenal
Sat 17 April: Manchester City v Manchester United
Sun 25 April: Chelsea v Stoke City

Same here, can't really see the point. I saw a review after the Arsenal vs Man U game (which I saw in "real" 3d) which said the players coming out of the tunnel was fairly spectacular, but other than that it was just a normal match on a small screen (they use 32" plasmas rather than the traditional 60"+ projector screens)
I think the whole 3D thing that's around at the minute is a bit of a gimmick anyway. What i've seen of it wasn't all that impressive. Certainly not impressive enough to make me, or millions of others I suspect, shell out for 3DTVs & Sky 3D subscriptions. Plus I don't really wanna have to wear daft glasses every time I watch TV.
I'd be surprised if it's still about in a few years...

you have missed an obvious point safctm like the rest of us that go to the stadiums you get the 4th dimension................ Rain's ok, if you're clever enough to avoid the first 10 rows. However, I've never felt as cold as I did during Everton a few months ago... covered in snow, freeezing cold, and 2 - 1 downjamjc64 wrote:you have missed an obvious point safctm like the rest of us that go to the stadiums you get the 4th dimension................ This 3D lark is funny. The impact of 3D is inversly proportional to the depth of field, in photgraphy known as DOF. The smaller this is the closer you are to the action and the more obvious it is that something is close to your view point and the more the 3D is apparent.
Considering most games are shot from somewhere in the stands the effect of the 3D will be pretty minimal. Pitch side camera's will be better because of the afore mentioned DOF, but that wont happen that often.
As for the world cup, none of the england group games are scheduled to be "shot" in 3D so you'd better hope they make the knock outs if you want to see any.
