Not BEFORE January SSN claim.....this saga has got to be a joke.....how can a ONE match missed turn into FIVE months? I havent seen anything so stupid, surely the medical team is a load of shite.....I mean how can people say such stupid things as they did.....? One game?

By Chris Harris

Thomas Vermaelen will not be back until the New Year.

The centre back has not played since Belgium's Euro 2012 qualifier in Turkey on September 7 after picking up an Achilles problem. At the time Vermaelen was expected to be available within a week but, three months on, he is still waiting.

Last month Arsène Wenger admitted there was "no logical explanation" for Vermaelen's prolonged absence and the manager does not expect to call on the 25-year-old, at least not until the end of December.

“Vermaelen is in a [protective] boot," said Wenger.

"We want him back and I hope he will be back soon, but not before January.â€

Why am i getting the feeling TV will be out for a very very long time, if not permanently? The best specialists have spent the last 3 months diagnosing the problem and they still don't know? I think his chances of coming back to football are not that high... :( :(

What the f**k are our "Medical Team" up to?? Vermaelen was originally "thought to be out for 8 - 10 days". He has already been out for 3 months and no-one seems to know when he will return. Ridiculous!!

Rosicky limped off against Newcastle a couple of years ago - he was "thought to be out for 8 - 10 days" but we didn't see him again for over 18 months.

There is something very wrong behind the scenes at Arsenal - both in the way our players are conditioned and the diagnoses of injuries. We need our top class players fit and ready to go if we are to mount a serious title challenge.

My 2 wishes for the new year:-

1. A new medical team that know what the f**k they are doing.

2. A new defensive coach that knows what the f**k he is doing. :banghead: :banghead:

Achilles injuries are a fookin nightmare. He'd have been better off with a minor fracture. After you've done an acihilles you're never gonna feel 100% comfortable for the rest of your playing days.

true, mate. i find it funny that people haven't mentioned it so far, but achilles injuries can really set one's carreer back.

i'm starting to agree that we may need a new central defender soon :?

Jan Vertonghen linked again at centre back, might be good idea, can also play in midfield and has played with Vermaelen before.
