Chants Would Be A Fine Thing

As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.

Sorry to be a bit rude here but the only verse of the Van Persie song that gets sung at the games is the 1st verse - and yes it was i who came up with it without any help.

Taxi for Wayno
It would work better if you said Theo instead of Walcott

how about for Backary?

Sagna, Sagna, Backary Sagna he's got dodgy hair but we dont care Backary Backary Sagna
i like it, but it would probably scan better like this Sagna, Sagna, Sagna, Backary Sagna he's got weird hair but we dont care Backary Sagna.

Chorus from Harrigan, tune by George M Cohan. My memory is a bit corroded on exactly how it sings, but took a stab. The letters B and R have to be said a bit closer together as the original was 'H (pause) A (pause) double-R I, G A N', follow with the 'Eee' drawn out a bit before G-A-S which is emphatic and should shout well. Third line makes me cringe a bit, but I'm no grammar nazi 8)

Eff – Ay – B R - Eee, Gee – Ay – Ess spells FABREGAS!
We are proud to call the lad a Gooner!
Wish we would have had him sooner!

Eff – Ay – B R - Eee, Gee – Ay – Ess, the best!
For if ever there were a lad Arsenal were mad for,
That's Ceeeeesssssc!

Does it roll of the tongue well? Rattle the tonsils?

DUE TO POPULAR DEMAND - ALEX RANG AND ASKED ME TO DO IT - I HAVE REPRODUCED MY ALEX HLEB TRIBUTE HERE:

CHORUS SUNG TO THE MELODY OF THE MONKEY'S 'I'M A BELIEVER':

THEN I SAW OUR HLEB,
NOW I'M A BELIEVER!
NOT A TRACE
OF DOUBT IN MY MIND,
ALEX HLEB - OOH, OOH, OOH,
I'M A BELIEVER
NOW THAT I'VE SEEN YA
SHOOT AT GOAL!!

IF YOU'RE TALKING ABOUT HLEB - WHAT DO YOU THINK?

IF YOU MEAN IN THE TEAM WINNING THE TITLE - I WASN'T BEFORE THE SEASON STARTED BUT AM SLOWLY GROWING IN CONFIDENCE WITH EACH DISPLAY. FROM WORRYING IN THE SUMMER ABOUT KEEPING OUR PLACE IN THE TOP 4, OUR PERFORMANCES THUS FAR HAS BOTH PLEASANTLY SURPRISED AND PLEASED ME, OBVIOUSLY. 8)

HOWEVER, IF WE WIN TOMORROW, IT WON'T MEAN I'LL THEN THINK WE'LL DEFINATELY GO ON TO CAPTURE THE TITLE. SIMILARLY, IF WE LOSE TOMORROW, I WON'T BELIEVE OUR CHALLENGE IS OVER OR LIKELY TO EVAPORATE QUICKLY.

THERE IS STILL A LONG, LONG WAY TO GO AND TOMORROW'S MATCH AGAINST MAN UTD IS JUST ONE MORE TEST FOR OUR SIDE. HOPEFULLY, WE WILL PASS IT WITH FLYING COLOURS - ALTHOUGH IF I'M HONEST, I'D TAKE A POINT NOW IF IT WERE OFFERED.

STOP IGNORING MY THEO AND HELB SONGS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

(Although I do like Hlebby's one - and it would be deliciously ironic if I Hate Hleb got a chant going in praise of Alex that we all recognise!)

I like that. The trouble is that once you've passed to Clichy on the left-hand side he will almost certainly cross it straight to the first defender on the right-hand side!!!

The Monkees tune,"Hey Hey"

"Hey Hey were the arsenal,
People say we pass it around,
But were too busy winning,
And the Tottenhams going down,
And you can stick ya Chelsea,
Come and watch us sing and play,
Arsenes new generation,
The Arsenals here to stay!!!!
