RIP Socrates

Brilliant Brazilian midfielder has passed away at the age of 57.

Remember watching his wonderful Brazil side in the 1982 World Cup.

A real joy to watch...I salute you Socrates.

They were an absolute fabulous team to watch and it was a real travesty that they never won a world cup :(

probably the best national team squad not to win a world cup - him, Zico and Falcao were brilliant for Brazil in 82

He was more then a footballer, he always had strong political opinions and never lost the opportunity to slag the former dictatorial state or the organization of football in Brazil. Top man, chased by alcohol. Sad stuff, RIP.

Incredible penalty kicks, until he missed one.

Great player, a doctor, and smoked 60 a day!

He and they were great, but better than the 74 (or 78?) Dutch team?
