The bloke who works out your position on the list is also the same guy that calculates the match day attendance.

In fact, i'm almost entirely certain your position on the waiting list is... 60,059!

Out of interest I emailed them this morning at 11.48am, got a reply at 13.36 :shock:

To be fair I was impressed they replied so quickly. 41,000 odd for me, I had no idea where I'd be but was pretty sure I was a long way off. I wasn't disappointed!

a few months ago I was told 36k ish

I sent an email as well and I'm currently 53,144 on the list. :shock:
I became a Red member not so long ago (December 2008, I think), so no surprise really.
