THE WENGER THREAD

As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.

My son is 24 and has loved Arsenal since he was 12. It came out of the blue because we live in Scotland and had never had any connection with the club. He's gone to a number of home games even though it's a round trip of 900 miles. Over the years I've shared his joy and now I'm sharing his pain. He's known nothing but Wenger and this is what he said recently:

If Wenger stays beyond this season then it's a complete joke. This really is the lowest of the low, he's so stubborn and won't change. If he really cared about the club he'd leave. He may have once been the best but so were Windows 95 and the Nokia 3310. He should have left a long time ago. It's not going to be fixed quickly now, he's ruined it. It really is a crying shame.

There probably was a contract offer on the table but it has been withdrawn. First wenker told us he's making the decision soon, after WB match he told us he's made up his mind but has refused to give anything out about it and some time ago he said that it is up to the board to announce anything related to his future. Things have changed along the way surely and I think that Gazidis has managed to get rest of the board or Kroenke behind him. There were also information coming from club sources that Gazidis has given request for his resignation earlier to the club but it has been refused by the board or Kroenke. This was also in Twitter so could be totally bullshit but it'd make sense.

One thing is certain and that is that the there is no signed contract. Because of the stock market regulations there should've been formal information about that and everyone would know about that already. No, there is no contract signed.

I could be horribly wrong with all this but for fucks sake you have to believe in something to keep your sanity in the middle of all this ending of world times that are surrounding this club.

Wenger has been complicit in helping Kroenke operate a profitable business without him having to put a penny into it. I don’t think he is suddenly going to marginalise him because we’re having a poor season and if you look at the numbers, this season is not markedly different from last season and we can still hit 71points. If we fail to make CL which we look certain to, we will take a hit financially and whether this would be significant enough to warrant change is anyone’s guess. Kroenke is not going to discard Wenger for footballing reasons alone. That football has to suffer enough to bring us down financially and we look to be heading that way. We also know that once you’re out of the CL, you need to spend signicant sums to get back in it and whether they feel the manager who took us out of the top 4 can get us back in it is another point to brood over. I’ve always said that this would come down to results and you can see from le fraud’s reaction to defeats that his life support machine in on the verge of getting cut off. He still has a few more trump cards to play and this is far from over.

Putting into use the little knowledge I have about contract law, a contract whether signed or not is only valid when there is an offer, acceptance and mutual consideration. A contract may well still be on the table but it won't be valid until these 3 elements are present.

But remember lads :- we cant replace Wenger unless and until.........
"We have someone as good or better" lined up!

Thats like literally anybody. Or indeed nobody.
Having no manager in place would be a better option and less damaging to AFC than the shit Wenger is doing right now.

Still not convinced he is going anywhere.

In interviews he looks as calm as he always does.

Remember this is Arsenal we're talking about.

We dare Sean we dare....

I think Wenker can't face talking about not having a new contract due to his vanity........possibly he is convinced that they will yet beg him to stay ?

There's a better chance we sign Messi than Wenger leaving and signing Allegri
