As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.

Has anyone used sport options for European trips?

Thinking of doing Schalke and struggling to find decent travel so thinking of just using them.

I used them many times mate, albeit the last the time was 5/6 years ago, and they were universally excellent.

They are good, but often more expensive that going yourself. I guess like Dortmund last season they will take you to Düsseldorf for Schalke which was quite a long coach journey away. A bit like watching Arsenal and finding you are staying in a hotel in Luton. :-P

£89.00 with ticket for the coach trip to Schalke is probably as cheap as you can get without driving yourself, even then with a ferry and fuel it cannot be much more expensive. You need to like coach travel as it is seems to be estimated at 9-10 hours travel time!

I actually cocked up my flights yesterday, so rebooked Stansted to Eindhoven for £40 return. Then a £40 return train ticket to Gelsenkirchen on top of that, gets us into town for 13.30 on matchday. Didn't think £80 all in was too bad really.

I guess it's gone up since then but could be worth looking into. How about flights to Bremen & then the train?

3.10. is national German holiday so we will swap them :mrgreen:

Any tips on accommodation, hotels, etc.
Checking http://www.hrs.com/ but prices varies...

Regarding Schalke, stay in Düsseldorf and travel on match day towards the Arena...train ticket is included in the footie ticket..

Hi Thomas,

Does that mean i only need to buy a train ticket to Dusseldorf from Cologne Airport? The train to Gelsenkirchen and back will be part of the match ticket?

Was thinking of flying into Dusseldorf at about 8.30pm, staying there Monday night and on to Gelsenkirchen on Tuesday. Flight back is 10.30am on Wednesday so would a hotel in Gelsenkirchen Tuesday night be the best option or is it possible to get to Dusseldorf after the match?

Any ideas people? :barscarf:
