Carlos Vela leaving

As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.

Sad he never made it as he looked a real star when he was younger. Never really enforced himself into games when he started. Hope he does well elsewhere.

An Arsenal spokesman said the signing of Vela hadn't worked out as they had hoped..."we didn't sell many shirts in Mexico" he said.

Did he ever score a goal that wasn't chipping the goalkeeper? When he got a few League Cup games back in 08/09 I thought he probably would make it at the club, but was far too lightweight and never really imposed himself on the game. Think a mid-table Spanish side is more his level and he'll do well there.

Sorry. WTF? Who? :o

Ah, I wish him well - but he was average with the odd moment of brilliance. Usually against a 2nd Div side when we were already 4-o up...

I really thought he could become something special. I know its easy saying this now but if he had the chances Bendtner was given whilst Vela was with us I reckon he would have become a great player.

Quite agree - lighweight, bottler, who wouldn't go in for a challenge - not committed enough (just like a few more)

Will hardly be missed as he has been on loan for most of the time.

Fee ? £3.5 m + wages back in the bank = happy Wenker and Kronke.

A sell on fee could be good in future if he gets goals in Spain it could some extra money, not sure why we want a buy back clause though.

good to see the useless grinning fucker go, only one question, why does it take our club 3 or 4 years before they realise these players are crap, when the fans can see within 12 months
