Cost of kids local football....outrageous

As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.

Not sure if that was directed at me but the junior league here in Leeds that my son play's in charge £191 for a whole season or £27 for a one off booking, quite reasonable i think..

Morning all,

Promised an update. Cost has been negotiated down to £4.5k and to accomodate the other pitches the youth teams use. Better result but in an ideal world would be a lot less.

Send your positive thoughts to the U'8s this afternoon....Danbury at home. Great kids and a coach who is an absolute diamond.

Have good Sundays

Lee

Wow, that is some outrageous pricing. It's obviously not pegged to the market either because the demand for grassroots football in the UK has been declining for a while, from what I've been reading.

Our men's team here (similar to a pub team) pays 1700 GBP to play in heated, boarded indoor facilities for a season of 18 games running thru Oct-Apr. That also includes the cost of a match official per game. And there's only 3 indoor facilities with about 4 fields each for the entirety of a city of a million people lol.

So to pay 4500-8000 for an 8 year old to play footy on a grass pitch is... frankly horrifying.
