Stoke Away Travel

As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.

Herding is what they do. Saturday night they herd the local cattle/sheep/goats into the town square and a big old truck from Durex drives in and distributes condoms to the rabid hord of gathered salivating locals, cocks in hand... and that's just the women!!

That's me sold, anyone got a spare?

A. Colors. Yes or no? Opinion seemed pretty split in the previous threads.

B. Do the police still herd us to a pub straight off the train?

C. How quickly can one get to the rail station after the match? Return train is at 1812.

Thanks. Send a PM if you'll be on the 1100 from Euston. Never had a proper away trip (Orient doesn't really count)

Walked back my first trip to the dark ages in the pouring frigging rain. Didn't get any grief although some prick thought it'd be funny to send me the wrong way to get to the station and I missed my train :censored:

You can easily walk it back or wait for the escorted cattle truck.

Here's a tip that'll hold you in good stead, make sure your bladder is well and truly emptied out before you get on that sh*t heap because last time we got stuck in traffic on the way there and a 5min journey took about half an hour. All the gooners jumped off en masse and tried pissing anywhere they could, never a good idea when the friendly boys in blue are about.

All the other advice is all you need. It's still my favourite away day WLD just because those jumped up tw*ts have got it into their missing link little heads that we are rivals

Hope we stuff em

Well,I always look forward to this one,but unfortunately I won't be able to go. My Facebook friends on here know the score, but still down I can't make it. Anyway,If you are driving up and have enough time, here's three things to maybe enjoy your day a bit more. This is what we usually do when we drive. Come off at junction 16 on the M6,turn right down the A500 and then a mile or so down go left on to the A34. On left A34 there's a great Steak house called Miller&Carter,The Harecastle,Sat Nav ST7 1UR,Google it,its very good. If not, there's a Toby Carvery a little bit further on,6 quid a meal and that's lovely too,Sat Nav ST7 1LW.

Head back down the A34 then go left towards Stoke on the A500 again, put ST4 4HW in your Sat Nav and this will take you to Old Whieldon Road (put this in even if you give the food a miss) park up there, walk back over and then down the side of the canal, then over the bridge and the away end to the right. Its a 15-20 mins walk, don't park near the ground, its mare getting out and you'll be there an hour at least trying to get away. There is a Harvester across from the ground, its always chocca so we bother. Walk back the same way, then back to the smoke!

Seriously,I never had any or seen any problems going this way in the many years I've been going apart from once. A Brighton fan wanted a boxing bout with me,but I expect he just wanted to lick me in the ring, thats Brighton  ...Don't tell Hash....

Whatever you do,enjoy the day.

Keele University is also less than 5 miles from Stoke. On a similar note maybe they practice drinking 6 litres of strong cider before pissing themselves and keeling over in the gutter

Join the locals drinking Ace Lager and aftershave in a field containing a burning effigy of the evil cheating Aaron Ramsey. Remember Aaron Ramsey? The dirty cheating fucker that broke his leg off poor Ryan "He's not that kind of guy (this time)" Shawcross? Just make sure you huddle in fear on the ground if a jet flies over, otherwise the locals will twig you aren't one of them. And then it's next stop the burning upper deck of the local Whicker Man.

Of course they might spot your lack of 6 toes on each hand long before that... :rubchin:

Aside from a fucking Harvester beside the ground, on my previous visits I've found there is literally nowhere for away fans to drink. Stoke is far and away the worst trip of the season. A truly abysmal place.

As ludicrous as it might sound I have been beaten and terrorised more times by Stoke than any other football club stretching back to when we lost 5-0 there during the double season 70-71 !

Why would you want too?

The bar they take us too is cheap as chips and they provide travel to the ground.

I quite enjoy stoke away, its hostile and the only away day like it is Scum away.

I'm getting the 10:46 slow train from Euston. Takes us all around the houses that one but was cheaper. Getting in to Stoke at 1.

Will probably go to this away pub for one. Looking forward to this. Should be feisty. Hope the players can hack it
