Tottenham away pubs etc!!!

As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.

Drunk at the Wig the last 2 years but it’s a ball ache getting the train and then having to walk up the dump of a high road.

Best way was to drink at Finsbury, wait for Escort and the mongs to leave. Then get the buss outside the pins. Stops by the way away entrance

However, if you want to look like a big man while walking down Seven Sisters round surrounded by coppers with the MP helipcopter hovering overhead, then you will love it. There's nowt as tough as football fans safely ensconced in a police escort!
Why would you allow yourself to get stuck in a police escort ! It must be soo easy to dodge it, either leave the twelve pins slightly early or go to other boozers in the area. No gooner in their right mind would wear colours, so theres no way of the police knowing where you're going.
Well, I think it's a 'right of passage' thing - I recommend everyone does it at least once. Part of the whole derby day experience.

There's a pub right outside Northumberland Park train station ( Northumberland Arms?). We tend to go there. It no trouble in there but as always, the golden rule is not to wear your colours as you're asking for a whack, which is ok if there are a few of you but not so clever if only a few.

Remember going in there before the 2004 championship game. Gooners took over the pub, flags up at the windows and loads of noise inside. They were really hating it outside.
Got escorted up Park Lane which was an event in itself. Prob a good job we did as it would have been very messy!!

Saying that you could always try any of the pubs along the High Road towards the Angel, Edmonton. You'll get a nice welcome there!.

Get in there early, before 3.30 as you have your boy with you. It's between 3.30 and KO time that it gets more difficult to get in without incident.

If you have your boy, def get in a bit early. Being a 4pm ko, the pubs will be emptying just before that and the low life over there start getting all lairy.
Same coming out, it may be better for you to leave 5 mins early as the tough "**** Army" like to congregate on the corner of the Park Lane and shout about how hard they are, especially when they outnumber us 5 to 1. WANKERS!

My washing machine's packed up. So if the local scum are still rioting or setting fire to and looting their own hovels; can anyone pick me up a new one, please? I've got a Samsung at the moment but quite fancy a Bosch or Indesit- with built in drier,if possible.

Ah, yes... the legendary scum "superfirm". :coffeespit:

Only attacks in numbers and only attacks scarfers and women, especially if they have kids with them.   Absolute furburgers every single one of them.

We wore no colours (absolutely essential in my view as no point in being a magnet for unwelcome attention!), drank near Finsbury Park and caught the 259 direct to the ground. No problem at all before the game...except when I heard some muppet being interviewed on TV and saying that he hadn't seen any Arsenal fans all day. I just couldn't resist telling him that he'd seen one now...although even then he tried to "out" me to the assembled neanderthals waiting nearby!

And no problems during the game...loving the 15 mins of "49 unbeaten" after the final whistle :barscarf: !

I'd agree with what everyone says about the dangers on exit. One of our group came out the ground still singing - and was immediately (and rightly!) told to shut the f*ck up by a battle hardened copper. Huge number of swamp dwellers waiting on the corner, and as so many have said in years gone by, they couldn't give a toss about how old you are, whether you are male or female, firm or scarfer, as far as they are concerned every gooner is fair game. Strangely, the main thing that did was gave my boys a heightened sense of "oneness" and community with other gooners which you don't always get sharing the Emirates with day trippers!

From that moment on it was a case of using street sense to duck and dive our way clear of trouble, and we ended up sat at a bus stop while the madness continued around us.

Did they look like a superfirm...? er, 100% no. I don't think I saw one individual who I wouldn't have fancied my chances with face to face. And was it as bad as "back in the day"? I didn't think so...although our away allocation then was much larger so you didn't feel so isolated. To be honest, what makes a visit to SHL so shocking now is the contrast with the normal matchday experience on our travels. But in saying that, probably little different to what Sunderland fans experience at Newcastle, or Liverpool at United.

I thought that the OB in general deserve great credit for the protection they gave those who decided to walk back up to Seven Sisters. They reluctantly accepted threats and posturing from a distance but immediately jumped on any sign of real trouble. And the closest I saw to real trouble was when our own firm came past - looking more than pleased with themselves :box: !

One thing I don't understand though is why they don't just keep us in for half hour and then do a proper police escort (for those that want it) back up Tottenham High Road. Their way of policing was more to let everyone mix and then manage the consqeuences. Don't know why they don't do more to prevent the mixing in the first place.

not strange at all - thats the 'rite of passage' the others were talking of - total strangers watching your back, even if its only a "leggit !" . and the laughs afterwards that you made it when you're safe on the train or tucked up in a nice west end pub.

I went away with Chelsea a few times with some slough mates in the 80's for a laugh - even then Chelsea had it sorted, no one left the paddock or stand until the lads who were up for it left first to clear the scum off streets and protect the old, women and kids. most clubs policing would let anyone one out on their own but not a big bunch of pissed up lads which is what they'd sussed.

then all us scarfers would leave as one unit, half to the coaches the rest to the train while their proper firm would bring up the back.

you'd hear the shouts and broken glass up ahead, and occasionally the big lads at the back would steam round you and disappear down a side street. ...

very different to Arsenal away where everyone just pissed off to the train or their cars etc. on their own.

I can only think the spud policing policy has always been to encourage away fans NOT to come to their hovel.
