Champions League Playoff and Draw

Post by gp543 »

A bit early but I don't care...

CL Playoff

5 Seeded Clubs: Arsenal, Porto, Leverkusen, Napoli, Bilbao (unless Zenit progress to this round)

5 Non-seeded clubs: TBD from the below group of 10 (previous round entrants)

Zenit/Bilbao, Lille, Copenhagen, Standard Liege, Besiktas, Dnipro, Panathinaikos, Feyenoord, Grasshoppers, APOEL Nicosia

Would love to see Zenit knocked out, not least because Bilbao would be our toughest opponent in this round yet and we would obviously draw them.

Lille, Copenhagen, Liege, Grasshoppers and Feyenoord as winners would be the dream results from the previous round.

We've got the Community Shield and Emirates Cup around that time so tiredness could be a worry.

We should really piss it though no matter who we get from those teams.

I think our specialist in Euro qualification should get us through this one :barscarf:

In the unlikely event we reach the final it will make for a bloody long season though - next year's final takes place on June 6th!!!

That's a pretty ordinary looking list of potential opponents. If we get Lille than its likely that our main summer signing will immediately be playing against his former team !

I'd like us to get Nicosia.

Firstly they'd be piss easy to beat but secondly I have a friend that lives about 2 miles from their stadium that I could stay with :barscarf: :barscarf:

Hoping for Zenit, never been to St Petersburg, what are the Russian supporters like, Turks or Germans.

Maybe WW3 will be on then anyway

Copenhagen is my dream European away trip. I probably won't be able to go to the glorious Playoff next season though to complete the trifecta (went to Udinese and Fenerbahce).

3rd Round Non-Champions:
Seeded: Zenit, Copenhagen, Lille, Standard, Besiktas or APOEL Nicosia
Unseeded: Besiktas or AEL Limassol, Dnipro, Panathinaikos, Feyenoord, Grasshoppers

Cyprus league to be decided by tribunal on Thursday: http://incyprus.philenews.com/en-gb/Top ... rd-offered

There's no scenario where we can draw Zenit.

Champs League 2015 pots

Post by clockender1 »

we should thank united for their shytenness this year - UEFA just announced that as they failed to make the CL at all, we stay in Pot ONE, otherwise we would have fallen into pot TWO with one of Porto, Real Madrid (and/or atheltico), , Barca, Dortmund, PSG in our group from pot one, and possibly, liverpool from pot three and Monaco from four .

with that kind of draw, Thursdays were a dead cert - but now, we can revel in the "we're still in the Champions League until the 2L of the last 16 in January..... :barscarf

As it is, we could still get - Us, Juve, Liverpool and Monaco....hmmm :rubchin:

Pot I
Real Madrid
FC Barcelona
Bayern Munich
Chelsea
Benfica
Atletico Madrid
*Arsenal
*FC Porto

Pot II
Schalke
Borussia Dortmund
Juventus
Paris Saint-Germain
Shakhtar Donetsk
Basel
*Zenit St. Petersburg
Manchester City

Pot III
*Bayer Leverkusen
Olympiakos
CSKA Moscow
Ajax
*Napoli
Liverpool
Sporting Lisbon
Galatasaray

Pot IV
Anderlecht
*Salzburg
Roma
*Steaua Bucarest
*Celtic
*BATE Borisov
*TBA
AS Monaco

looking at Pot Two i'm pretty confident our days in Pot One are numbered - City, PSG and Juve will see to that if they make the quarters and we don't...

Two threads open on next season's CL already and this one hasn't even finished, contain your excitement gents. You'll have a whole 6 months to enjoy it between our first qualifier and getting caned in the first knockout round :barscarf: :barscarf: :barscarf:

And we can't draw Liverpool. Basics mate.
