AFC SET TO REVIEW DISCIPLINARY PROCEDURE RE IFO JUDGEMENT

Post by physician »

Hopefully ALL ARSENAL FANS will benefit from the Independent Football Ombudsman's adjudication regarding 'The Archway One', in which it recommends that the club reviews it's disciplinary procedure for serious cases (where a ban of 1 year or more is imposed) - with a view to introducing an APPEAL STAGE or the opportunity for A PERSONAL HEARING. This is long overdue, as fans deserve a chance to put over their side of the story against over zealous stewards, police etc.......

The report also criticises the club over it's lack of communication with fans. Any change to this aloof behaviour over the ordinary supporter is to be encouraged.

Special mentions are deserved for Verto Legal (Solicitors of the Archway One) & Amanda Jacks (Football Supporters Federation), who provided invaluable support throughout this arduous campaign for JUSTICE.

Interesting that the report says Arsenal were justified in issuing the ban, however have recommended it is lifted starting next season with three years probation given there was not enough evidence that it was issued for football reasons. Arsenal will no doubt do everything in their power to stop this happening given they have said they wish to "take further police advice and consider other evidence before deciding on this recommendation".

I think in many ways this is the best that could be hoped for, so in that sense is a positive result for all involved.

I just hope that the celebrations aren't premature.

Arsenal haven't agreed to lift the ban yet.
