Mesut Ozil

As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.

You know the world champions got beaten by a load of work a day blokes from the championship and Oezil missed 2 sitters that required pretty much no running. I'm not a hater but DB10 he ain't.

Only a cracker if you have Irish blood Augie. Reminded me so much of our games where teams like West Ham fuck us over.

Yep, I deserved that - as I said, fair play fellas that was a proper gutsy performance and great result. Didn't see that coming.

I suppose there's still some time for heartbreaking handball play-off action for me to look forward to though

Wow. Did IQ's just drop on here?  We are now judging Ozil on one Interlull game that the German's really didn't need to win? A game where every single German player had a bit of a stroll? Right. Okay. Ozil doesn't run around enough. You are right. He's shit. Can we sell him and maybe ask Robbie Savage and his ludicrous hairstyle to come out of retirement and run around a lot for us?

Quite clearly not the case is it though mate, you're normally one of the quickest to pick somebody up for jumping on a strawman argument like this. Nobody is judging him on one international game against Ireland and you know that's bollocks.

It was a flippant comment because it's a little tiring/frustrating hearing everybody say "if only he had better players around him" all the time as an absolute excuse. Frankly I don't give a shit whether players perform for their country (beyond any impact on their form for us) but whenever I've seen Ozil play for Germany - including when they dominated the World Cup - he doesn't look like the same player as before so to me there's clearly more to his underperformance than the players around him.
