Re: Joel Campbell
He is not a CM in a million years. Just grasping onto the same straws as with Chambers because neither have looked good enough in their positions so far.

I know weve been down this route before but the ox is a cm that's his position as said by ox,i imagine ox knows his best positionnorthbank123 wrote:He is not a CM in a million years. Re: Joel Campbell
I shudder when people mention the Ox as a CM.
If we have aspirations of winning the PL and even the CL look at what other teams are packing and you'll see that CM is a specialist position. Same with Chambers at DM. British players with such a ropey 1st touch like that cannot play in these positions. Look at Wayne Rooney. It wasn't his footballing intelligence that stops/stopped him from being a good CM, but his infernal and typically British first touch.
Christ on a bike, this country has got some serious coaching to do. Only Jack Wilshere and Ross Barkley are brits with potential to match continental counterparts in that position.

Re: Joel Campbell
Getting back to Campbell i have a horrible gut feeling that as soon as Alexis is fit again he'll lose his place.
Knowing OGL as we do i can see Theo being used opposite Alexis and Campbell back on the bench even though he is the most in form of the 3 options on the right, make that 4 when Santi is fit once more and Aaron is pushed back out wide
We all know AW is nothing if not predictable

He's work rate and pass and vision has been excellent since he came in to the team. Deffo deserves to keep his place.

We have and there's no point re-hashing old arguments.markyp wrote:I know weve been down this route before but the ox is a cm that's his position as said by ox,i imagine ox knows his best positionnorthbank123 wrote:He is not a CM in a million years. What I would add though is that Ox is hardly showing himself as worth taking a gamble on there over our current options.
Re: Joel Campbell
I don't understand how people can undermine a player when that player states his favourite position,in this case saying the ox isn't CM is just plain crazy, thats HIS favoured position, how do you know if he can do the job there when is hes only played there once for us,and that one game was a head turning performance against A.C Milan in the CL a few years ago where Milan couldnt touch him.the guy isn't a winger, just like ozil isn't a winger, just like Rambo isn't a winger to name but a few, just because Wenker puts them there it doesn't mean they aren't fit to play in their rightful position.maybe ox should just retire because hes a shit winger and clearly not rated as a CM here so there isn't a position hes fit to play is thereSupagoon wrote:I shudder when people mention the Ox as a CM.

If you ask a player what his best position is, he can't / won't tell you.
He'll tell you what position he wants to play.
Very different things!
I remember Souness giving an interview when he went to Turkey. he said he'd asked all the players what their best position was, and three quarters of them replied, "number 10 playing in the hole behind the striker".

Re: Joel Campbell
Ozil showed for years he is a world class player in a central role. Likewise Ramsey has on balance over the last 3 years showed plenty in that role and is again improving every week after a massive dip in form. Very different to Oxlade-Chamberlain saying he should play there.
The bloke is one of the worst defenders I have ever seen at the club. Zero positional sense defensively, doesn't track runners, no ability to sense danger. On top of that he has never shown a particularly decent passing range and has completely lost the confidence to run at players. The only justification for playing him there is because he has asked to and that is pretty tenuous.

Re: Joel Campbell
I think this is down to his confidence being totally shot,he looks like a fish up a tree right now and yes a liability but that's not to say that a run in his favoured position as a CM wouldn't see him flourish,if he says thats his position then im guessing he knows the role so should do a job.its to easy to write players offwhen they are being played out of position or not getting a decent run,you only have to look at Monreal,Campbell and also Ozil who look a pile of shite as a wingerbut now in his favoured role is pulling the strings week in week out, arguably the best player in the PL this seasonnorthbank123 wrote:Ozil showed for years he is a world class player in a central role. Re: Joel Campbell
The ox can still have a future as a winger at a club at Arsenal. He has a lot of work to do on his game, and at the moment his confidence is shot, but he can get it back and become a very dangerous wide player for us.
I understand he has aspirations to play CM. But, at a club like Arsenal or any top club it's a very competitive, specialist position, he will be facing players who have played there their whole careers, who can pass well and instinctively know where players are around them. Hopefully we sign players like this
He can play CM at a club like Southampton, maybe, but at Arsenal? Can't see it.
As for JC. I like him. Never thought he would be useful to us, but the boy has proven me wrong. Hopefully at the end of the season we can look back on a great contribution from him.
