Wenger - Death Threats/Libel

As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.

Wenger - Death Threats/Libel

Post by QuartzGooner »

On Sunday night two members wrote comments wishing untimely death on Wenger.
These were not direct threats written to Wenger's email address or postal address.

Are these death threats?
Possibly.
Are they incitement to violence?
Yes.
Are they in accordance with this Forum's policy.
No.

So both members have a 24 hour ban, so they can calm down.

One of these members also wrote libellous allegations against Wenger.

That member is being considered for a longer term or permanent ban by the Mods.

All of the comments were deleted as they put into doubt the continued existence of this Forum as per the guidelines set down by the Forum's owner, and also the potential for police action against this Forum.
If someone cannot understand that or disagrees with that then they should write to the owner.

Christ, I take a weekend off and the place goes to shit!! :D

Lads, the rules are clear. We do allow alot of stuff to be written on here that no other forum would allow but even we have certain limits.

I believe one of our members has been questioning the mod actions in this instant and being a pedantic fucker to boot. Let me put it this way; yes, libel and defamation can lead to prosecution and yes both can lead to us being shut down. It doesn't matter whether the case is proven legally or not, the owner of the forum has the right to shut it down if he feels it is becoming a legal risk to him or if he just gets sick and tired of receiving complaints from people.

Act responsibly. Do not post anything libelous or threatening.

There is also a matter of taste to be considered. Wishing someone you've never met (and that has done you no direct harm) dies of AIDS is frankly pathetic.
