KROENKE OUT / The Board / Staff etc (merged thread)

As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.

Glad to see finally people are realising that Kroenke is poison, shame it took a lot of people 10 years too long, better late than never I suppose!.
I think Kroenke will ignore this though, he does it with his US franchises and I'm sure he thinks he can get away with it here too, hopefully he can't....

Who drafts these statements ? To me the statement is as passive and devoid of emotion, as anything we are seeing from the kroenke's  Where is the anger/frustration at our continued shameful/embarrassing efforts in the transfer market ? We all know that there are A LOT of things wrong with our club, but a lot of the issues and frustration will drift away if we see ambition from the club

Statements like this are too diluted for me liking

I understand your point Augie, but I'd ask that everyone on this forum gets behind this initiative. A handful of people were involved in wording that statement and some of us wanted a stronger, more direct line. Personally, I thought it was too broad in its scope (for example, I'd have left out mention of the match day experience and the European Super League for a start) and for me, there's one problem that's light years ahead of any other and that's Stan Kroenke. I'd have unequivocally targeted him and very directly, asking him to explain his ambitions for the Club and how / when they will be achieved. Others preferred this approach. Bottom line, something was needed and I think this was a good shot across the bows to get things moving.

Once the ball is rolling and if, as expected, the Club continues to slide backwards, with transfer activity and on-field performance being as dire as we all expect, then things will ramp up. This is going to be a long fight, a war of attrition and the vital aspect, is that ALL like minded supporters get fully behind it. The Wenger Out campaign was soul destroying frankly. Try as we might, we couldn't rally sufficient support (although in retrospect, perhaps we had a bigger effect than I realised at the time) and never got close to mass protest inside the stadium, which is vital.

However, I believe that this will be different. Absolutely no one has any sentimental attachment to the Kroenkes and everyone understands that we're finished as long as he owns the Club. It's already clear that far more fans are jumping on board and who knows, even our large contingent of supine, lobotomised mutes, might be prepared to cast a disapproving look in the direction of the Director's Box !

There has been a huge effort to launch this campaign on social media and in the MSM, with many doing a fabulous job (I don't include myself in that, I'm a technophobic dinosaur) and the reaction has been fantastic. Can I ask ALL the guys on here to PLEASE get behind this, retweet, tweet yourself to followers, follow other tweeters (I ain't got a clue what I'm talking about  ) and sign the petition.

He bought the shares, but we own the soul. There's no guarantees, but if our entire fan base shows a solid, united front and gets totally behind this, then we have a chance. What we must not do, is complain and do nothing.

Well Stuart, I'd definitely introduce a "stop and search" policy. Anyone found entering the Emirates WITHOUT an anti Kroenke banner, would be denied entry by a Stasi style secret police...................

Whether the statement is worded strongly enough or not I don't know, but I do know that the more media attention it gets, the better.

As someone said above, Kroenke will most likely ignore it, however if the media keep bringing it up it can't do us any harm, only good.

I would something to cleanse us of the latter Wenger era and all the unwanted baggage he attracted to the club.
The arrival of the numpties, tarquins & tourists started with the shite Nick Hornby book, the new divie breed of fans were even called Hornbys at that time, Add in the start of the Premier League & Euro '96 & the supporter demographic had already changed before Wenger arrived.

Big difference between 94 & 95 CWC finals, proper old school support in Copenhagen, everyone who went got into the game, a year later, thousands of old school supporters struggling to get briefs outside the ground. Not surprisingly the vocal support inside in 95 was much worse!
i got a ticket outside in 1995. so did many others. we were rounded up by the French OB and escorted to the Arsenal End.

i think it was Euro 96 and Skinner and Baddiel that made the tarquins and tourists become JCL's.

in 1994 i got my Standing ST in the Clock End ( the first year they did one) and there was NO waiting list at all. if i remember rightly it was about 120 quid.

Retro, I appreciate the explanation and maybe I was too harsh in my earlier post

I agree with your opening paragraph 100% in that this protest/statement should focus on Kse and NOTHING else - issues like match day atmosphere/ticket prices/merchandise etc, are all problems for every clubs fanbase not just ours. Focusing on the prospect of a European super league is a noble aim, but again if things keep going the way they are, we won't be involved anyway 🙄

No problem at all Augie, I know how you feel and I remember your support for the Wenger Out campaign. We need a few more with some Celtic fire in their belly tbh. I was pretty insistent that the statement should be less scatter gun and focused on Kroenke alone. Ultimately, a compromise was reached and I have to say, the reaction to the launch has been fabulous. As I type this, there's more than 50,000 names on the petition in less than a day !!

I've a suspicion that people are so seriously pissed off and concerned, that we could have written a kids nursery rhyme on the statement and people would have supported it. It was the very well managed launch via the MSM and social media that got this trending. This morning it was trending at number 1 on Twitter, retweeted with comments by some leading journos. There have also been a number of radio interviews with some of the guys involved, who all spoke articulately and sensibly.

See this as a start point chaps and if the Club continue to ignore us and continue to run this great footballing institution into the ground, then have no doubt, there's plenty of appetite to scale this up and increase the militancy. This won't be like the Wenger campaign, everyone you speak to knows we're fucked with Kroenke at the helm and all want him gone. We've served notice to the Club, let's see how they respond....frankly, i hope they don't, because I don't want the parasitic leech with any place to turn. I just want him out.

Agree that I would be ok with them continuing to treat us with distain IF I felt that it would unite the fanbase to launch the mother and father of a rebellion, but tbh I doubt that will happen :( In my opinion the only way to drive these cnuts out is a SUSTAINED campaign of boycotting games, and I doubt that will ever happen

^^This 100%.

Hornby was not the start of it. Euro 96 was. Up until Euro 96 I used to just write to the club with a list of my top three games that month include a postal order and 9 times out of 10 the club would post me the tickets I wanted or at worst tickets to my second choice game.
