Sun newspaper or not, I dont doubt that arteta (and possibly those running the club) want guendouzi gone, but fcuk me if we loan him out somebody should be shot. For me you only loan out a player if he is too young to be a regular (smith-rowe for example) or if he is a veteran guy producing little but on a big wage - guendouzi fits neither criteria. Any club loaning guendouzi out under those circumstances would be brainless, but a club with a very limited transfer kitty (like we have) should either sell him for an acceptable price, or keep him and use him yourself.
I know that it is only the sun newspaper and I know that there will be comments about believing nothing you read, but for this is very much an AFC type of deal simply because it would be farcical enough for us

Saint-Etienne have agreed to forego the €2.5m bonus they were due to receive if Saliba played 17 games this season. Talks are set to conclude positively & the player is set to return to Saint-Etienne by Friday.
Ain't that the fucking truth.

I don't know if I'm alone in this, but I like Guendouzi. He's good technically, carries the ball forward and is high energy, covering the back line a lot and prepared to intercept and get stuck in. He also bollocks other players and stands up to the opposition, as we saw with Maupay. We used to complain on here that our players were weak and easily pushed around, so it makes a change to have a spiky character in the side. It's easy to forget that he's only just 21 and has a lot of opportunity to mature and improve. Compared to our other centre mids, only Torreira competes imo....yet it would never surprise me to see them both go this Summer.
It seems that he's one of those players that the fans haven't particularly warmed to, yet there's plenty of cretins who tell me that Xhaka is important for what he brings to the team...that conversation usually ends when I ask them what it is exactly that he brings.
With Guendouzi, it seems that there is a personality / disciplinary issue at the club and I've no idea if he's a difficult character, but I can't shake the suspicion that Arteta is the type to have favourites and wouldn't appreciate a strong voice from anyone else. He was close with Wenger and might well share similar traits and it would never surprise me if Arteta is a sulky type who gives out the old silent treatment.
Anyway, if Matteo moves on, I'm expecting him to develop a good career over the years. We might well regret letting him go.

I'm with you on all that buddy
I've lost count of the number of times that our fans complain about our players (and modern life in general) being too snowflake like, but yet when we have a player that is anything but, we get our panties in a twist cos he got into verbals with a sneaky c.unt that done our keeper We complain when opposition players continue to foul our players with impunity , but yet we seem to only want "nice" players who wont offend anyone when we NEED a few more spiky players who revel in getting into it with the opposition players, and we should be surrounding guendouzi with players like PV4 who showed them how to be aggressive in a positive way. I know I am an oldie, but I know the difference between liking a player and liking the man - I dont intend going on long walks holding hands with any of our players, but I sure as shit want them to bust a gut for our team every time they cross that white line, and that will earn my respect regardless of how "uncouth" they are
I have no doubt that arteta has zero patience with any of our young players who do not follow his way to the letter, and who show signs of having any character He seems to have a natural affinity to olders players like xhaka/mustafi/luiz who have already "been broken in" by other managers, and cant seem to relate to younger players unless they are nice boys like willock. We have had years of nice players and a nice manager and it is a major reason why we are where we are - right now I would be very happy if we had a bastar.d manager and a few bastar.d players

Re: ALL Transfer talk - merged thread
I've read various stories from different sources where allegedly he's not very pleasant to staff behind the scenes, how true that is I don't know, but tbh I'm not too sure about him, I know he's young, but he doesn't score goals, he doesn't create goals.
If we were offered a good price from another club I'd probably move him on.

Re: ALL Transfer talk - merged thread
Matteo Guendouzi's case goes beyond just the Brighton incident. There have been delays to training and the Dubai incident. The club has taken this very seriously. Guendouzi has also dismissed the advice of certain executives at Arsenal. [@francefootball]
In Dubai, Matteo Guendouzi had a heated argument with his teammate, Sokratis Papastathopoulos in training. A prolonged tension until the team reached the hotel. [@francefootball]
Mattéo Guendouzi then raised his tone very high to Mikel Arteta - reproaching his own coach for taking Sokratis' side during the entire standoff.
A meeting is again scheduled at the end of the season to make a final decision on Matteo Guendouzi. Unless there is a change of attitude or apology, it is very unlikely Guendouzi will remain an Arsenal player. Player is valued between €30-35m.

Yep, agreed Augie. It boils down to the ability of the manager to man manage his squad. Some people have a natural charisma and the ability to lead from any age, but they are few and far between. Most have to learn management skills and that's one of the problems with selecting a young and inexperienced coach. Wenger was a coward in every way, which is why he went for youngsters, or those that were in the doldrums, knowing that they'd look up to him as a father figure and keep in line. I always maintained that it was why he seldom, if ever, bought established stars, with a reputation and an ego to match....Fergie and Mourinho could handle them, Wenger knew he couldn't, because he was afraid of confrontation. He had a classic passive-aggressive personality.
I think that Arteta is spiky and aggressive, but probably resorts to confrontation too soon. The skill is to convince people to get on board, to follow your directions, but to buy into them because you have the ability to lead. I've an inkling that Arteta demands respect rather than earns it and can't handle any dissenting voice. I hope I'm wrong, because that eventually leads to a bad place and the only people you'll take with you are the lightweights and good boys, who lack character and spirit and won't rock the boat....Ramsey was a prime example...he knew that as long as he stayed in Wenger's good books, he'd be the first name on the team sheet no matter how badly he'd been playing.
Bottom line, I think Guendouzi and maybe Torreira are on the way out and I think we'll regret it.

All stupid young foolish mistakes that can be eradicated in time - the kid is no saint by any means, and no doubt needs to learn to curb his tongue somewhat, but this (what arteta is doing) seems a bit too "throwing out the baby with the bath water" for my liking. Over the years we have had numerous examples of young players with great potential that have had issues that caused them to cross the line of what is acceptable -some straightened themselves out and became good pro's, whilst others didnt learn and the career drifted as a result, but most players are given a proper chance to get back on track and I dont think that is happening here. I really rate the kid in that I feel that he has great potential and I love his energetic/leave it all on the pitch attitude - I really fear that some other club is going to be the one to turn him into a proper pro and that they will reap the benefits instead of us

The guy was the manager of second division l'orient, is now the manager of some no mark club called algers (or something like that), and his cv reads like the "who the fcuk is that club" of french football - I would honestly give more value to the opinions of a fat c.unt like fat sam cos at least he has managed some quality players and has managed at premier league level for years
