welcome to the world of football. The world of Haves and have nots. Unfortunately we look like a club more and more, sliding towards the have nots. This world of football isn't anything that is new. It's just new to us in a way. outside the top 6, and maybe in near future, top 4, teams and their fans have had to endure this sports unfair and inequitable model. Unfortunately, it has no fix, and will only get worse. 3 of the 4 big sports in USA, have a salary cap system, that both share all the combined revenue and set limits on what a team can spend, and also sets a floor or minimum that they have to spend. Creates a fair base to the sport and its fans. The sole sport that doesn't do this is baseball, however they do have several ways to even the playing field. There is a luxury cap, and if go over is a huge penalty that costs millions, which go to the bottom 1/2 of the teams in revenue. Few teams go over anymore. plus lower revenue producing or small market teams get compensated in form of added high draft picks to get the younger cheap players. Baseball has had great success with many of the smaller market teams winning the world series or making the playoffs.

However, our beautiful game can never work in this way, for the sole reason, it's too worldly. American football, and baseball have no competition to deal with. Players except it or its "go f-yourself". American basketball is just so far above any other league, it doesn't need to worry. Although, there has been rumblings over years of some star players threatening to play over seas, but it hasn't happened yet. The NHL, its made up of both american and Canadian teams, and well .. it's hockey... who really gives a crap. This league has a strangle hold for years to come on it's players.

Football is screwed. players can go to 5 big "leagues" plus many other leagues like in china, or Portugal that will pay a few players big wages. These leagues will never work together. There are a miriad of variables that make it impossible. So, the premier league can't impose a cap. The would lose nearly all the great players. and why would the likes of City or Chelski even consider it. No, sadly this is the way it is. Better off getting used to it.

Lets let the pitch dry up, let get bumpy, sign cheap meat head 6' 5" players and break some legs on opposing teams that visit. imbrace your savage inner self, cause I not sure we will ever compete for a league title again.

Mate, how old are you? Those of us who were just teeny tiny nippers back in 1971 and who spent the late 70s / early 80s watching the Arsenal never dared to dream that the league was a possibility. Back then the victims were kings, manure were nowhere, the chavs and citeh were footballing jokes and there was a completely different landscape. You are right that things have changed and while we will never get the good old days of the footy back the beauty of the free market is that what happened to citeh technically can happen to anyone. The socialist bastards at UEFA have tried to restrict that by implementing FFP but money talks and the richer clubs invariably seem to be finding a way around that. Our problem is we managed to get ourselves sold off to a complete cu.nt which does present a few problems and there could be some very interesting times around the corner if he maintains the current model and refuses to invest.

I do like your dried out bumpy pitch option along with the 6'5" meat heads......we used to do that back in the 70s and 80s as well

Fellas - I can't believe I've been so down about only being able to sign loan deals and freebies. This fella is planning a new comeback and may i be the first to champion his cause.......

Limited to looking around for loan signings. Fucking embarrasing given how much we rape our fans for week in week out.

At least those comments put the "injuries" bollocks to bed.

What an absolute mess.... there have been some absurd decisions made over the last decade but this has to rank as the worst because the only way we are going to get him off the books is by subsidising his wages until the deal is over. So whichever way you look at it we're going to be hamstrung by him whether we sell him or not.

The 350 grand a week should have been on condition of us being in the CL, negligent in the extreme for a sixth placed side knocking about in the arsehole of the Europa League to offer that sort of contract to a player.

Well played Ivan and Wanka

And Ramsey... I don't particularly like him but a lot of people rate him highly.....so what do we do...let him go on a free. Another "innovation" of Wenger's, "letting players contracts run down makes them hungrier". Hungrier for more money is about all......

Look how that worked out, we are vastly overpaying Ozil because Wenger was terrified he would leave after he made such a mess of the Sanchez deal, even though NOBODY was showing any interest in him. We got the worst of the Sanchez deal because again, he was at the back end of his contract and now Ramsey sailing off for free. And Ramsey is a long way from being our worst player.

Wenger's malign influence and lunatic, hare brained "innovations"will be felt for a long time to come.

It is the same scenario as it was with bendtner - No One! would even look at him - okay because he WAS shyte, but he was on wages waaaay beyond what he should have been on - Same with Wilshere, Ramsey, jenkinson, Gibbset al....I remember that photograph of 5 ? or 6 Young Arsenal players all signing contract extentions at the same time - All getting increased money ....

Wenger had too much freedom and that combined with his inability to confront players on their game & salaries AND he aways played his faves no matter how utter shyte they were...

Gazidis is to blame also

Both Ceeeunts.

Yeah, I can see his name still being bandied about (for all the wrong reasons) for the next 10 years..

:rubchin: Give's a whole new meaning to 30 years in football. :?
