other matches this weekend

As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.

Such a fucking shame those c.unts are so far ahead in the league because even if they were say 9 or 10 points ahead they’d never get it over the line before the cancellation.

They’ll probably just about get it mathematically done now before it’s curtains up.

Liverpool cannot, simply cannot, handle teams that do not collapse in front of them. They cannot deal with referees that are not intimidated by them. Yes they are a good team, admittedly best in England but on a level playing field they can be found out. Michael Owen,.Steve Macmanaman and all at BiTter Sports can fuck off and do one , the wankathon is over .

I don't think they can give them the title if it's "mathematically done" If so are Norwich going to be relegated??? If ALL the games don't get played then surely nobody gets their just desserts.....it's a reset I would say????? It's gotta be all or nothing, hopefully nothing?

Something strangely satisfying about that A. Madrid result. Klopp's Liverpool have peaked. There's only one way now for them.

If Ancelotti is going to be a big success at Everton then he faces the sort of challenge that has faced Dick/Freddie/Arteta in terms of big match mentality - probably the only team ahead of us that I would confidently predict to get rolled over whenever they go to one of the top six clubs. Absolutely shocking big match away record, and making the Chavs look like Brazil 82 already :banghead:
Nice to see someone use Brazil 82 instead of Brazil 70.

I wasnt born in 1970 but that 1982 side are still the team I am most in awe of and that world cup is still the best one Ive seen. Football had more of an aura back then but it was a lesson early in life that cynical sides with more nous like Italy will often triumph over more talented opponents. Although if Brazil's main striker Reinaldo (sp?) hadnt been injured before the tournament and replaced by the average Serginho then they might have won it.
Socrates, Eder, Falcao....even though I was young i still remember that team more than any other Brazil side.
just 24 sides as well that World Cup - now that was a PROPER tournament 8)
Best World Cup that I can remember was that one in 1982, I was seven in 1970 so I can remember that World Cup vaguely . Brazil were majestic , but came unstuck against the brilliant Italy in a game for the ages. Germany were cynical and their keeper Schumacher left a stain on the tournament. But France were the revelation..That semi final heartbreak against Germany was felt beyond France mainly because of Schumacher's assault on Battison.
Tardelli's celebration of his goal in the final is an iconic image..And England could have got to the final at least..Two big misses from Keegan and Brooking against Spain cost them a semi final place I think.
All of that - plus the best England shirt in a lifetime. The only Ingerlund shirt I possess that 1982 retro vintage !
Spain '82 remains the best world cup in modern football history. The last time a world cup had the quality of mystery of the teams from south america. After that players started coming to northern europr and adopting our style of football, killing off the south american flair.
England were unbeaten in the world cup and due to the format of the competition went out on goal difference. Remember watching the opening 3-1 win aganst France. This was at a time when English teams were ruling Europe and genuinely could have clamied to hae the best league at the time.

OneBard mate I had to delete your gif of the bird jumping around in the thong. The owners have decreed no NSFW threads in On The Terraces. If someone cannot open a thread in an office because it is NSFW then it goes in the Basement. We cant just keep moving threads into the basement. Please stop posting NSFW images and gifs in this part of the forum - post them in the Cannonballs / basement. Cheers.

48 teams will definitely kill the World Cup.

you have to then ask what is the point of the bigger nations going through a qualifying stage.

a shame - what used to be such a great event has gradually been destroyed by greed.
I hear that the Scottish FA are lobbying for a 100 team World Cup :D

They should take the moral high ground like the FAI did. Get a handballed goal against you, have it not spotted by any officials, then get your thieving corrupt bellend of a chief executive to publicly beg FIFA to let you in as "an extra team" because your fans are sooooo nice, and then just wrap yourself up in the resulting worldwide humiliation and ridicule. 8)

Surely the greatest match ever, another glory night at Anfield, a match which will never be forgotten. I shall await all those headlines which we won't see. Fuck off murderers. :D

Superb couple of days football it has to be said. The "End Of An Era" in Middlesex football - I had no idea mediocrity waa classified or quantified in "eras" - and now another gaping hole in the Quadruple that was being mooted by victims and media morons before Xmas.

Statements of "CL doesn't matter" incoming from victims everywhere.
