Thank You for Taking an interest - PHW RIP

As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.

The "thank you for taking an interest in our affairs" comment was one of the most out of touch things ever uttered by someone at the club.

Surprised not to see a post on here yet following the announcement of PHW’s passing, so here it goes.

I know a lot of people resented PHW towards the end of his tenure, mainly it seems for not getting Wenger out of the club, but I would like to pass my condolences to his family and thank him for the years of service to the club from 1962 until stepping down in 2013. RIP
Not up on your quotes then mate

It's the passing of a byegone age. His family did so much for the club and deserve the credit for that but selling out to Kroenke broke the mould and the club lost it's aura at that point.
Not wishing to jump on the proverbial bandwagon, I think that observation and sentence does reflect my opinion of the late chap....
But he was not alone....

Tbf I think he sold to what he believed was the lesser of 2 evils! Football ownership was changing ! So who knows!
But he presided over an era when we were cut above the rest

100 years of history the family have with the football club and most of the time it was a perfect match but unfortunetly for Peter his tenure run into the birth of the money men ,sky and precious supporters
If his dad would have said "thank you for your interest " at the annual general meeting in the 70s 80s no body would have raised an eyebrow
they would have expected it

RIP Peter Hill Wood
Difference being his father would have meant it in a genuine way rather than patronising small shareholders who love the club, ultimately more than our “custodians” did.

Sold out for the money, no tears shed by me.
That about sums it up.
