Preseason Friendly Thread

As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.

Xhaka’s got the armband, gonna need to increase my alcohol intake drastically.
The thing is, who would you give it to? The crisis with this squad, no one can be THE leader. If it was to me, I'd give it to Papa. I would consider Auba/Laca but these two either don't play the full 90 or one starts from the bench. If I had to, keep Granit as vice so he doesn't get pissed off.

Yea we don't want that happening, we really can't afford for him to play badly :? :?
Is "badlyer" a word? No? It should be where Xhakatard is concerned.

Yeah Sokrites would also be my first choice, after that I’d actually give it to Bellerin. I think the responsibility of the armband would see him play in a less cavalier way and actually improve him as a player big time. Think the captaincy would suit him.

You’re right in saying the team is devoid of leaders but under absolutely no fucking circumstances should the Swiss turd ever be captain, the prick shouldn’t even be at the club.
I did not even think of Hector, putting it through how you said it, he won't even be a half bad captain and would probably do better than Granit.

No doubt, Papa should get the armband this year. What the fuck is UE seeing in Xhaka as captain, let alone a no-brainer starting 11 player is beyond my thoughts. Maybe this year he plays with his head a bit more... one can only hope.

Pretty much full strenth tonight - no mustafi - chambers in, willock alongside xhaka, and Martinez in goal.

Xhaka should have just given away a pen, ref missed it and no VAR.

Back four doing okay against benzema, modric, hazard etc. Mondi looks mustard. Quick af.

Auba on the break - lovely flick from laca and PEA14 does Ramos for pace 2-0 ,!!!!

Get in.

Madrid all over us in the last five - xhaka now CB . Jenko and kolasinac playing very well.

Weve drooped off following the red, but before that our front four were mustard. They ciuldnt cooe with iur pace, quick inter play or the long balls over the top.

Very tetchy from Madrid. They dont like losing

Lovely move from our front four - only good keeping from Courtois.

We are starting to tire. Time for Eddie etc.

17 minutes for Eddie, Saka, Reiss and Burton.

Straight on the attack and madrid clear off the line !

Flid monkey again.

Fantastic run from Reiss ! - just the final ball missing...

Game is more stretched now than a kardashians pussy.
