Former Bayern Munich manager Niko Kovac will watch Arsenal on Monday night. Kovac wants to replace Unai Emery and contact has been made. Not front runner. (@charles_watts) #afc
Kovac would be a good appointment,he led Frankfurt to there first cup final win in 30 yrs beating Bayern in the final and then left for Bayern

There is a great film about Frankfurts cup run called The Return of the cup ,He had the whole of frankfurt believing they could beat Bayern and when the players came out for the pre match warm up everyone in the Frankfurt end had their backs to the players and the cup final shirt on with no 12 on the back{ 12th man} it set the scene for the day and he never complicated the pre match team talk he just told each individual player that they had to win the personal battles and told his star man Prince Boetang that when he gets the ball in midfield to play it into the channels for Ante Rebic and he will do the rest

90 minutes later and Rebic had 2 goals and Frankfurt won 3-1

Certainly deserves a place on the next manager list
One glance at the Bundesliga table however would surely question his ability to step up into a big time role? Bayern 7th and surely when he was fired it must have been their worst league performance for decades?

No mean feat Steveo but he won the double in his first season with Bayern then started this season badly and got the sack early and they are still not firing this season domestically

I have about 6 or 7 managers who I would like to be given a chance to manage us and Dyche and Howe are on the list as well as Kovac :D

Didn't realise he'd done the double - decent achievement (even with Bayern) after stepping up from a smaller club. Anyway, anyone who masterminds a 7 goal turkey shoot at the New Shitole has to earn our respect :barscarf:

And that's about all he will be doing during his off season. As soon as the word 'buy out clause' emerges you can discount us. It also seems that we're a bit worried about the wage demands of Pochettino and Allegri.

Funny how it never seemed to matter too much when cock features was getting his contract renewed at £10m a year

I said to my oldest lad that this Arsenal team right now reminds me of the one I first started supporting in the late 70s through to the mid 80s - a collection of individuals but lacking in any sort of ruthless, win at all costs mentality and defensively and mentally weak. There were plenty of talents over that ten year period or so - Brady, Petrovic, Rix, Woodcock, Nicholas, to name but a few. But the team never got close to competing for the title and were a UEFA Cup team at best (until the vile, scummy Mickeys took away that pleasure too)

One of my favourite football books was Kenny Sansom's insight into the 1986/87 season and in particular how GG changed the entire focus of the team. One of his opening addresses to the team supposedly was "You are good players - why haven't you won anything?" and questioned their mentality. What then followed was a series of big name charlies flushed out of the door - Rix, Nicholas etc - and a core built around young players from the academy and a set of tough as old boots defenders. In that book it describes how GG almost drove them crazy with relentless drills of six forwards attacking four defenders, and stopping them every time they were out of shape until such point as it became second nature

I feel that is what is needed now. Pochettino won't do it either. From the list of credible candidates only Allegri would introduce such a radical change as the one GG did. If we can't afford him then much to the disgust of the trendybeards, I would opt for Sean Dyche because he is the cheaper version and would set about getting rid of the non-team players.
I am coming around to the Dyche thought. Look at what he has done without a budget with a bunch of players who wouldn't be fancied in most teams in the Prem. Yeah, they got rolled over by Spuds, but Spuds had an underperforming team (a bit like ours).

My only concern would be his attack is a bit Allardycian in that he requires a big man.

I swear there will come a time when that man has managed every club in every league in every country.

"Close to taking on a new project" covers every single angle possible. Could be a career as a stripper in Hamburg in two days time, a lion-tamer trainer in Namibia in July or managing a football club anywhere in the world anytime in the next six months.

Headlines and their subsequent stories can be miles apart..Saw a headline from the online Mirror proclaiming that Arsenal players refused to back Freddie....The story itself said no Arsenal player had backed the interm manager through the media. It went on to say that the players may be under instruction not to speak to the media..So a headline that screamed:Revolt at Arsenal " became a non story based on assumption.

Goal claim Niko Kovac wants the manager’s job at #Arsenal & his interest has been made known to the club’s hierarchy. https://t.co/IKVfoGf8VX
If that's true the Edu sounds shit!

A feeling developing in the game is that Mikel Arteta now finds himself in pole position [for Arsenal’s hot seat] but the likes of Mauricio Pochettino, Patrick Vieira, Carlo Ancelotti and Roberto Martinez are still being mentioned [@David_Ornstein]

He is definitely one of the candidates that I don't want to get the job - haven't we already tried and failed with one ex Valencia manager ? I still believe that we have a squad consisting of some shit stirrers who like to take the piss behind the scenes, and the last thing we need is another manager with a decent track record who goes about his business in a peaceful way - we need a manager with real presence right now, who will come in and take command of the dressing room, and the players can like it or lump it
