Part of a Post match interview with Freddie - Apparently the club have asked him to stay, in what capacity / role he didn't say.

Ecstatic with the one point presumably. If they hadn't appointed Arteta, Freddie would have been offered the job today.

A lot of the singing today was anti AFTV. As we left the ground it was all directed at Robbie and his mates and the police had to give him an escort. Was really surprised. Was fully expecting an anti Kroenke day out but there you go what do I know eh?

What is all this sh1t about fans chanting AFTV get out our club?, I mean I'm no big fan of AFTV but some of our fans seriously must be some of the dumbest in world football, how about chanting at the real problem - KSE???. No wonder we're so sh!t.

100% agree with that - far from my cup of tea, and I think that the are attention seeking wh*res, but chanting or charging them really is pathetic

If the rumours are true then I am pleased that arteta was involved in picking the team and the tactical set-up, and it was no less than I would have expected. It also makes a mockery of the suggestion that Freddie was the one that disciplined ozil - we are meant to believe that Freddie disciplined ozil for kicking his gloves in the air, when he didn't discipline him for arguing with Freddie directly at the end of a match a few weeks ago ?? Do me a favour - dropping ozil was down to arteta and it was a good first step, but now he has to show consistency and be willing to put manners on players who aren't working for the team, and that starts with his captain

So Arteta is another manager who thinks Xhaka should be in the starting line up when most fans don't think he should be at the club?

Didnt see the game live but watched it later and if I'm honest I thought that was a better away display than we've seen for a while, admittedly Everton were poor.

I thought mostly we defended more as a unit, there mostly seemed to be cover when required, people were blocking when required and a few times players didnt actually jump out the way of shots

It wasn't fast flowing football and you could see the youngsters were over thinking at times which slowed things down but a decent bit of coaching and some good confidence building work along with regular game time and some work on physicality should help them. I still think Willock needs to go on loan and Nelson too but Saka, ESR and especially Martinelli can be worked on at the club.

Auba I'd sell, he is obviously halfway out the door but I'd keep Laca for another season, especially if Xhaka, Mustafi, Ozil are going elsewhere. Luiz is a conundrum, if we get a couple of CBs then I'd try pushing him up to replace Xhaka in the short term, we lack the range of passing he has from Lucas or Guendozi.

We really need a right back because AMN isnt, and if I'm honest Bellerin just isnt good enough. As I think Marky said we need to replace Ozils position because our major problem when attacking is there is often a huge hole between the back end and the front 3 and everyone we have lacks the turn and run at people attitude.

Arteta has a lot to do in January and more importantly the summer, deals are going to be crucial especially if available funds are limited, as much as we deride the Europa League the extra £20-25M from it is essential going forward with the limited funds he's likely to get.

We really need some new ideas and hopefully Arteta can provide these because we have stagnated badly for too long and it really still does look like a Wenger side at times with the slow midfield and sideways/backwards passing, as said above retention for retentions sake :rubchin:

I would take a few fucking negative 0-0s if it starts setting a platform. We have enough decent attacking quality that we will get better going forward with time, especially with money. We haven’t defended properly for over a decade, so I can absolutely stomach a few dour games like this if it means we can start that recovery.

I’m no Ozil lover and though Freddie’s comments were spot on, but has anybody seen anything in Smith-Rowe that would indicate that he might be ready for this? We have actually amassed some very good young talent, but Willock and Smith-Rowe are nowhere near good enough at the moment.

By the way, what the fuck has happened with Ceballos? Has he been injured for the last forever?

Bloody awful game of football. To think I wasted my data on watching that whilst at work.

Shows how far our expectation levels have dropped when we celebrate a clean sheet, and are reasonably joyful when xhaka passes the ball forward to another player on his team for about 80 minutes. We're 11th for FFS at the halfway stage of the season.

Perfect result for Freddie to hand the team over to Mikel 0-0.

Got to say though still feel a bit cheated that the great Carlo Ancellotti was there to be everton's manager and not ours. Anyway, that ship has sailed behind Arteta 100% of the way BUT it will be interesting to see which team finishes higher in the league between us and Everton. Yes, that is how far we have fallen behind the other five.

I think that the kid could be a real player IF he gets proper coaching - I thought that today he was very poor if I'm honest, but I knew that our young (soft) kids would not react well with the tighter goodison pitch and the limited space. You also gotta remember that the kid has played less than 5 senior games and it is way too early to make a judgement on him.

I am really shocked and disappointed by the harsh negative reaction to the performance from so many fans today - if that performance had of come from one of GG's teams back in the day, we would have been quite happy with it, but because it came from a 2019 AFC team it is getting slated for a lack of excitement  We need clean sheets more than anything. We need defensive structure. We need positional awareness for our defenders and midfielders. WHEN all of that beds in with our players, then we can blend it with a more expansive brand of football, but right now we have to prioritise a shocking defensive record and believe that one of our quality attackers can produce a bit of magic to win the game. If auba scores that chance we walk away with a 1-0 (to the Arsenal) and 3 points, and if some of you are bored by that, then fcuk off and watch something else

Not writing the kid off Augie, but is he remotely good enough for first real football and/or is it helpful for him to play? Not for me

I have to wonder who is doing that chanting ? - the AKBs ?

Ive no issue with them, all he does isinterview with fans after the game. Some who i often agree with like Claud, others are knobs often knobs. Its not the most high brow tv but it is what it is. Dont like it ? Then dont watch it on youtube.
