There's a cracking interview with Ian Wright on the True Geordie podcast on youtube. 90 mins about his life, boy does he have a story to tell. It's hard not to like him as a human being.

Re: Ian Wright's Desert Island Discs
Yeah his choice in music most definitely doesn't match his legendary status.

Finally got a chance to listen to it tonight and really enjoyed it. Not so much the music of course, fortunately the version I heard the music was cut down to a minimum
And although its 10 years old the Tony Adams Desert Island Discs on BBC Sounds is well worth a listen too for anyone who hasnt heard it! Although I feel I should warn people it includes ''Sweet Caroline'' ... what is it with that f--king song

I've often wondered that mate. On the one occasion I went to the Rocket prematch years ago I went to meet up with poor old Wayno/Muttley off here for a pint and when that song came on every fucker in the place was singing it out loud. Tbh it sounded quite good in that packed environment but I've never figured the relevance of it.Clash wrote: ↑Tue Feb 18, 2020 10:09 pmThanks for posting this Bard, mate.OneBardGooner wrote: ↑Sun Feb 16, 2020 1:52 pmDear Mods, I know this kind of thing usually goes in the Basement/ Cannonballs, but wanted people to know about it first:

Other songs you'll remember the time and place when they became popular like "Number One is Perry Groves" to the tune of Yellow Submarine really took off in Paris in 06 but I cannot recall when or why "Sweet Caroline" did.
Any takers?

I did hear that it was the favourite tune of one of the directors ( can’t recall which decrepit old fucker is to blame ) May be true, might not.DB10GOONER wrote: ↑Wed Feb 19, 2020 7:00 amI've often wondered that mate.
