On a serious note, due to the fact it is so contagious at some point you will probably get it, hopefully you are fit enough to fight it off.

If my dad gets it, it will kill him, no doubt - he is struggling with COPD, a breathing illness, that gets progressively worse and is on oxygen at home on and off all day.
He rarely ventures out - other than to hospital appointments etc, so is already self isolating but it’s anyone else he comes into contact with, with about 50% expected to contract it at some point.

PS anyone else smell bullshit in the numbers being publicised - thin it was 526 or around there up to yesterday and Arteta and the Chelsea player Hudson Odoi, cannot be that unlucky.

Stay safe people.

My daughter and a couple of her mates went out to Paris for NY. They all came back feeling unwell and my daughter ended up in bed for about a week with a very high temperature and a persistent cough. She has asthma and we were borderline on taking her to A&E at one point. My son caught it albeit not as bad as my daughter and the wife fell ill with it too. I didn't catch it. Her friends passed it onto their respective housemates. Now my missus has worked in schools for nearly 30 years and has never seen something as weird as what my daughter caught in Paris. It probably wasn't you know what......but we've all been wondering about it given recent events. Weird :?

In January my brother had fever, cough and short of breath.

It didn't have a name back then. Not saying in was the covid 19 but what's to say it hasn't been here since Christmas

Yeah the figures are probably fake news, its probably more as many cant get a test very easily. Its not as bad as Spain or Italy in numbers but its pretty bad. Suspect most countries are similar TBH (And to think people criticized China for marking numbers down

@StaurtL hope your dad keeps safe mate

Keep washing your hands guys and stay well

There's a subtle difference between not being able to test/not noticing until too late and blatantly hiding figures and the fact that it was noticed before Xmas and collectively, as a government, keep it on the down low to not alert any other country and hurt their economy. One is a problem that cannot be solved easily, the other is hypocrisy and greed to keep the economy pushing for the number 1 spot in the world.

Yeah it's certainly possible it has been out there for a while, as soon as it emerged in China, with modern air travel it could have easily been here much earlier.

The real number infected is probably at least 10x the confirmed number.

China are a discrace - polluting the planet and allowing viruses to spread, time the world united and told them to sort their sh*t out!.

The reality is though that we may have to shift towards a more simple existence, country hoping on planes and world cruises were always going to cause this - we evolved for 4M+ years to largely stay in small communities or at least not travelling from London to Sydney in 12 hours!.

We are lucky this doesn't have the mortality rate of something like sars or worse ebola, we need to learn from it.

We are simply not medically advanced enough to carry on like this until we really understand disease better.

a late football result coming in : Covid-19, Scousers- 18.

if the season really is over, I do wonder what will happen to the bottom three - quite rightly, they could argue that they would have survived relegation and should stay in the PL.

But if Leeds and WBA don't get promoted this year, they could sue both the PL and EFL, for tens of millions in lost revenues....

its going to be a shit show.

i reckon they will have to start it again in September - Wuhan has taken five months to see infection rates drop, and then finish the season in late October.

Cant do that - euro 2020 looks like it is moving back to summer of 2021, so no way can next season start in October and finish late and nor will it be possible to run a complete season in 3 months shorter time frame

It's not normal this Virus, it doesn't ideally match any known infection vectors. Usually virus' come in certain packages but this thing seems to jump between them........ My mate at work's wife is a Microbiologist with a Masters is Virology although she works outside the field currently but even she is baffled with what this thing is showing.

Most similar virus's effect people in specific ways for example they'll either attack young and old and leave the middle with milder symptoms like Flu or they'll attack all evenly such as Ebola, this thing is strange in that it is leaving the younger ones with very mild symptoms but increasing the damage as the age group increases. (underlying health concerns aside)

The reported incubation periods are all over the place too, some saying within a few days others a couple of week, most infectious period ranging from highest in the first few days to other saying after a week..... it is odd that even with scientist and specialists worldwide looking at the same disease they are unable to come to a defined consensus after nearly 4 months :rubchin:

My son and I have had colds and snuffles since November and we have both had anti biotics ,it just doesn't go away !
He's 8 and goes to a special school where the kids always have something .
Schools are going to close by the end of next week according to my Mrs who works in one and they hope it will then be over by Easter .
They will then extend the summer term to even it up !

Well if it's been here since Christmas it's not that contagious otherwise a lot more people would have it by now for sure.

With regard to that my son and a mate of mine were Ill back in January (my mate says he's never Ill but was in bed for 5 days, first time ever) but I was drinking with my mate and obviously see my son every day but I haven't had anything like that, although I had a cold I couldn't shift for at least 3 weeks but I could work and train.

I just wish you all the best and your families, stay safe,I'm out for a lads do tomorrow, luckily a lot of my mates smoke so I will be outside with them lol.
