As much as I approve of the Football Bono label for Klopp, I still think it’s more appropriate for Wenger. Whatever you might think of Bono now, he used to have something about him back in the day and so did Wenger. Klopp seems more like Football Geldof to me. They’re all similar in many ways but Geldof and Klopp are vastly inferior versions in my opinion.
Bono / Wenger
For a period in time at the beginning they were one of the best around but were ruined by their early success and fame. As their egos got out of control, they developed a messiah complex. This saw them become detached from the people they used to represent and made their band/club lose a lot of its identity. Also they didn’t know when to use the exit door and both still reek of hypocrisy and greed.
Geldof / Klopp
Big mouthed attention seekers. Masters of feigned humility with their ‘man of the people’ bullshit. Champagne socialist types but of no real substance really. And despite their immense wealth, they still look like a couple of stinky old tramps.

Good points Augie. That CWC final performance in 94 remains one of the all time great defensive displays.augie wrote: ↑Mon Sep 28, 2020 3:49 pmherbert wrote: ↑Mon Sep 28, 2020 10:22 amRubbish Clash the famous five had not been near the title for years and his new methods put the spark back into them and then in 2004 he went unbeaten with a defence that had 4 players he signed for the clubClash wrote: ↑Mon Sep 28, 2020 9:54 amAgree with every word of that great post BWK!Bradywasking wrote: ↑Sun Sep 27, 2020 10:30 amLiverpool are deserved Champions * , however they are Champions * of the worst season in Premier League/Football League Division One history where the rest of the top six lost over 50 games between them and the previous season's top six lost a similar amount.
Liverpool deserve some credit for being Champions * , however not on the level that the media are pouring on them . They are not the greatest Champions ever. Arsenal won the Premier League unbeaten and twice as part of doubles. Chelsea won back to back titles and also as part of a double. Manchester City won back to back titles and also as part of a domestic treble. Manchester United won the title as part of a treble, also two doubles and numerous back to back titles. So Liverpool's achievement is only comparable to one time single trophy season Champions Blackburn Rovers and Leicester City.
They are better than Arsenal and further ahead in where both clubs want to be. But the myth and the media fantasy has exaggerated the quality and the achievements so far. But for the first time in years I believe we are not going to Anfield already beaten. We shouldn't be going already beaten.
Tomorrow night is a big test for Arsenal, we may be playing the Champions in their own stadium we may be playing refereeing inequalities, but we can go there and play eleven against eleven. Don't lose to the media adulation before kick off.
Unfortunately I do not think this season will be any higher quality wise so I can see that lot* walking it again.
Man City were the only hope but they were dreadful yesterday. It seems Pep (just like Wenger) only has a strong back line if he inherits good defenders because despite being a genius (just like Wenger) ... he cannot build one himself.
He was lucky to have them defenders at the club in 1996/7 and they were lucky to have him as his methods re ignited them and prolonged their careers
and we were lucky to have witnessed it
Pep and City are missing Arteta thats all
Maybe not the league title, but those defenders had won a domestic cup double in 93, won the cup winners cup in 94, and lost the cup winners cup final to a freak goal in 95, so in effect those defenders had gone 12-18 months without threatening to win any silverware

I was talking about him getting them back to be has consistent as they were in 90/91 but Fair point Augie they were brilliant in them cup runs of 93,94,95Clash wrote: ↑Mon Sep 28, 2020 4:03 pmGood points Augie. Glad Tierney is starting, obviously he had a slight knock and was saved for this game which is good management.
Why Luiz is starting though I'm not quite sure, did he play well against them last time out, i can't remember, life's a blur at the moment

Unbelievable isnt it ? Man of the match in first 2 games, and now dropped for either luiz (who we were close to releasing at end of his contract), or holding who we were willing to loan or sell him just a few short weeks ago

Perhaps, because we are playing with a back 3 that has perormed well in the last couple of months?
Gabriel, will be back, but maybe, arteta thought he will go with familiarity?
Lets see how it goes before we lose the plot!

I can understand Gabriel not starting if I’m being honest. He’s looked good against Fulham and West Ham but let’s face it they’re shite and there’s a real risk he could get completely ass fucked by their front 3 tonight which could set him back massively.
He’s only played a couple of competitive games since March and none against this calibre of forward so the other 2 get the nod.
We’re probably fucked no matter who plays back there.

Luiz, Holding, Xhaka, Elneny and AMN at left wing back. Not the most inspiring starting eleven but here's hoping!

Bindippers should have been playing all their games behind closed doors for 50 years as it seems to be the only way to stop the murdering scum from murdering opposition supporters?

I think our line up shows we are still a bit short of competing with the best.
However our bench looks as strong as theirs so you never know if we can keep things tight
