Using a teenager with Aspergers (a condition which causes acute anxiety and mental distress on a reasonable day) as the poster girl for a worldwide movement smacks of child abuse to me, the parents should be shot.

Immaterial of the way you feel about climate change the current movement is causing as many issues and disruptions to daily life without addressing the real issue as i have ever seen. Zero carbon emissions promised by the UK government by 2050, good luck with that what are we all going to do... stop fucking breathing

Whilst things do have to change the absolute hysteria at the moment means any meaningful discussion on the topic is impossible, nor are we able to address the leading factor in climate change without offending the world. To meet the requirements that some of these nutjobs want we'd all need to travel back and live in the Dark Ages.

Until the conversation encompasses population control it will spiral out of control.

Climate control needs addressing but you can't go from doing fu.ck all about it to all out engagement literally overnight. Why do we think that it's clever to set all these unilateral UK legal objectives when the yanks (15%) and chinese (30%) are knocking fu.ck out of emissions. By stopping breathing, farting and killing all the cattle herds in the UK we can address something like 2% of emissions. The other numbers of note are the EU 10%, Russia and Japan about 4% each so there is 65% of all global emissions.

Over population is an area where the liberal elite like to stick their heads in the sand and which needs to be seriously addressed as part of attempts to control global warming but good luck with that.

And the thing that really grips my sh.it about all this is the attitude of the super rich who think it's ok to do what they like as long as they plant a friggin tree afterwards. I can't believe that hasn't been more rigourously jumped upon by society as the hypocrisy of these twats is staggering.

Over population is indeed the elephant in the room, every single person born needs to be fed, watered, clothed, kept warm and as healthy as possible. Current world population is 7.7B ish, increasing by an expected 1 Billion over the next tens years, by 2035 we'll be pushing 9B an increase of between 15-20% in 15 years. It is not polution alone that is the problem but the rapaciousness of our species and our total disregard for the available space and resources. Add to this the rampant consumerism in both the developed and the developing world and resource use will increase in all sectors driven as it is by (tinfoil hat time) global consortiums who only care about profit.

For the climate activists to get their way not only do you have to convince everyone to stop using fossil fuels but also stop producing the goods which require fossil fuel production for their components thereby putting untold millions of people out of work and unable to support themselves, of course at that point all these champagne socialists will tell you that governments can then support the unemployed however government needs money from taxes which they wont have if no-one is earning and nothing is being made.

Add to this all the extra arable growing land required to produce the food which will be required when we all have to go vegan and you can say goodbye to the rest of the forests around the world after all we cant just kill off all the herds because that would be inhumane.

These climate loonies have a point, the climate is changing but the climate has always changed, the fossil record, ice core samples etc all show this.

What we have is a perfect storm brewing and unless the UN etc address population control what we see now is a walk in the park compared to the hell on earth, wars for resources etc that are coming and much as we like to think the world is a lovely civilised place, when life, limb and family are at risk i have seen exactly how thin than veneer is.

As has been mentioned on here over population is the key issue here, yet for some reason I never hear it mentioned when climate change is discussed.

the thing is it is not such of an issue in Europe where population rates have stagnated.
even China its not so bad as they have had a one child policy.

the problem is places like Africa and India are multiplying faster than ever, with seemingly no thought given to how they are going to be able to keep feeding the population. I reckon what will eventually happen is huge wars in these areas as people literally starve to death.

the best thing we can do over here for the climate is to just not take so many flights.
I reckon give it say 10 years and flights will be taxed so high that only the rich will once again be able to fly anywhere.
the days of cheap air travel will come to an end.

plenty of water here in the UK yes - not so much in the rest of the world.

remember Ethiopia 1984 - multiply that by 100 and that's what Africa will be like in a few years time
