Forum Upgrade/Changes
Forum Upgrade/Changes
We are soon going to be upgrading the forum software to the latest version. This is necessary to increase security as we've suffered from a few attacks in the few years that this community has been online. The newer version also makes the board easier for us to manage which ultimately should mean a more enjoyable experience for the users.
Some of you will remember the attempt we made at this last year which resulted in a lot of complaints from the regulars about various aspects of the upgrade. In the end I decided to scrap the changes and revert back to the original. We know however feel that the upgrade is essential but before we do so we'd like to consult you the users - in order to make a democratic change.
The contentious issue last time around was the look of the new forum, we have done some research and have chosen 3 designs which look most similar to the current forum and also are suited to the Arsenal colours:
1. http://www.awesomestyles.com:80/demo/proglass-red
2. http://demo.phpbb3styles.net/Milky+Way+Red
3. http://freelancewebmarket.biz/phpbb3-fo ... m-148.html
4. http://www.awesomestyles.com/demo/impulse
5. http://www.awesomestyles.com/demo/circus-red
We'll not be starting any changes just yet, at this stage we want your feedback, comment and suggestions.
Regards,
Rob.

Can I ask that we also get to vote or at least a say on who the moderators are?
I don't think any of us enjoy being spoken down to so I would suggest that is kept in mind when appouinting new ones.
Option four by the way.

Rob,
I agree that a lot of the resistance to the last change was the timing - we had just lost and everyone wanted to come on here and vent their frustrations, only to find the forum gone, then when it came back it was blue and then pink!
Also, several members on here dont respond easily to change, although the options you suggest are not majorly different to what we have now so shouldnt be too difficult to get used to.
If this new forum includes the filters that Mike has been talking about then that would also help with the issues people have reading the forum in a public domain.
The only other thing was that the avatars on the last trial forum were on the right, and I was the awkward bugger who is left handed and said it made it really hard for me to read/use the forum (maybe a good thing after all ), so if they could stay on the left that would be great, thanks.
Basil.
