THE FRANKSAV MUSIC THREAD

It's all a load of Cannonballs in here! This is the virtual Arsenal pub where you can chat about anything except football. Be warned though, like any pub, the content may not always be suitable for everyone.

For any Who fans. 8)

I had a shuddering recollection of “Highbury High’s “ for a moment and feared it was that.
What an awful embarrassing crass fake saccharine moment that was. Fucking awful song from a man that sang on some absolute classics.

The only thing that would have made "Highbury Highs" worse that day was if Wenger had jumped up and grabbed the mic and done some slow rhythmic pelvic gyrations while belting out a chorus or two....

:puke:
Don’t, just don’t do that to me - of all Wenkers missed opportunities, he probably ranks that above not signing Ronaldo and Messi

Have to agree. Neil Young = Genius. :barscarf: 8)
Don't always agree with your views on Arsenal, but probably both agree that Neil Young is a lot better than Willie Young, both as a songwriter and guitarist, and maybe as a footballer too....

Was just downloading some tunes and listening to some really crap stuff from the Stills/Young duo collaboration era, and came across an absolute gem, in 'Long May You Run', Really great Young song, don't bother with the album. It is the song Peter Paul and Mary should have recorded, and they could play and sing great melodies. If you don't know it, have a listen.

Off to see the Undertones Thursday evening, (no Fergal Sharkey in it anymore) with support from the great Neville Staple (Specials) who I have seen many times and always puts on a great, energetic show. His Mrs Christine is a Gooner too :barscarf:

Undertones were awesome -loved the show full of energy.

Sadly,Neville is a shadow of his former self, hardly moves at all during his performance - did a good set of specials hits and the odd FB3 hit but not at the top of his game anymore.

On my commute yesterday and today I've been re-listening to an old favourite album "The Real Thing" by Faith No More. A seminal 90s album (though it was released in 89) I had forgotten how good it actually was and is.... i remember them absolutely blowing Guns n Roses off the stage at Slane back in the day..... have it you cùnts!

Chuffed to bits to get a phone call the other day to say I had got tickets to see the Undertones at a very small, intimate venue,
John Peel Centre, was built in honour of the man who gave the Undertones their break, by playing their song twice, back to back.
For what would have been his 80th birthday they are playing there
Approx 200 people will be in attendance and what’s more I can walk there :bestmates:

:D Nice One mate, I was an avid listener to The John Peel Show back in the day, you could guarantee that every show he would play at least one song/track from a totally unknown band/artist that would spark my interest, mind you that was also back in the days of vinyl 45RPM's! <sigh> and all the way through when all the indie bands & labels were emerging <sigh> and when cassettes were beginning to fade out and then of course as .CD's began to out-sell vinyl ... I can honestly say he is the only scouser I've ever liked- his utterly laconic style, but with amazing ears.

I had an old valve radio left to me by one of my Grand Father's when he passed away - we used to listen to the BBC whilst I helped in the garden as a child, and I used to do my home-work etc whilst listening to "John Peel In Concert" shows - I remember especially when what became known as "Prog Rock" was emerging in the late 60's and through the early 70's - He championed the likes of Yes and Pink Floyd.

I also recall his telling the story of the first time he ever heard "Teenage Kicks" by The Undertones - He was driving somewhere on a motorway and was playing one of numerous cassettes he had been sent by bands / companies - and when he heard it, he had to pull over he was so affected by it and cried because he thought it was that good.

Have a listen to this mate
