Re: THE NORTHBANKBREN TV SHOW THREAD
Currently watching Better Call Saul. Missed it the first time around as I wasn't sure if the Saul character had enough to warrant or carry a spin off show but tbh I'm loving it. Some superbly written characters and great plot twists and story arcs. Superb show.

I've seen it advertised on Netflix, but thought much the same, I might take a decko now though.. another excellent Netflix series ( 1 & 2 so far) is "Ozark"! ..the first 2 episodes of series 1 and you're thinking hmmm meh, but by the 3rd episode the twists and turns start getting more acute (realistic also) and is darkly funny...

Still think it's the Best thing in years.OneBardGooner wrote: ↑Fri Jan 05, 2018 12:49 pmBest thing to come from the BBC in over 30 years!. 11 out of 10.arseofacrow wrote: ↑Fri Jan 05, 2018 10:24 amDetectorists.
So it's finished after 3 seasons. Great comedy drama. Toby Jones and Mackenzie Crook on top form.

I’m sure it’s already been discussed, but I’ve just finished watching all of Luther. Really good, bit bloody and violent, and always had unexpected deaths and twists in the stories. Ruth Wilson is brilliant as Alice, gorgeous, just a shame she didn’t get it all out! The only downside was the last two episodes got a bit ‘jump the shark’ but otherwise a great watch. If, like me, you never watched it, it’s all available on Netflix.

Watched it very late on catch up recently and blitzed through all of them. Very enjoyable and Idris is a Goonergoonertux wrote: ↑Mon Feb 04, 2019 10:17 pmI’m sure it’s already been discussed, but I’ve just finished watching all of Luther. Much preferred the episodes with Ruth Wilson in, she has a strange mouth, but was very sexy as the psycho killer...
Lots and lots of holes in the plots and filming Slip ups - Luther being able to walk places quicker than cars can drive etc Luther doing his tie up twice in a minute where they had obviously cut filming and started again

CHEAT
Not a documentary on premier league referees and lino’s
A 4 part, psychological thriller about a university teacher and a female pupil.
It’s on ITV at 9pm - 3rd part this evening
So far it’s been very, very good.

After Life - on Netflix with Ricky Gervais (who I’m not a huge fan of)
A dark comedy that has some side splitting moments, while dealing with the pain and anguish of some very dark subjects.
Series 2 has been commissioned so looking forward to that when it comes out.
Highly recommend watching -(you might end up binge watching it )

People in work have been split over it (after life) I cannot stand him - I didn't rate the Office and anytime I've heard him or whatever I just want to Punch his Lights Out.StuartL wrote: ↑Wed Apr 17, 2019 7:48 amAfter Life - on Netflix with Ricky Gervais (who I’m not a huge fan of)

I’m not a Gervais fan but really enjoyed the humour in this - give it a try mate, the episodes are short watch 2 and see if it grabs you.OneBardGooner wrote: ↑Wed Apr 17, 2019 7:00 pmPeople in work have been split over it (after life) I cannot stand him - I didn't rate the Office and anytime I've heard him or whatever I just want to Punch his Lights Out.StuartL wrote: ↑Wed Apr 17, 2019 7:48 amAfter Life - on Netflix with Ricky Gervais (who I’m not a huge fan of)

Also not a Gervais fan but I loved every minute of the (proper) Office. His David Brent was genius. Unfortunately all Gervais has in his locker is David Brent.

Re: THE NORTHBANKBREN TV SHOW THREAD
True Detective 3. Hugely disappointing.
TD1 was inspired and captured dark southern gothic at its best with stunning career-redefining performances from Woody Harrelson and Matthew McConaughy.
TD2 was OK to goodish but badly miscast (Colin fucking Farrell and Vince fucking Vaughan ffs).
TD3 is gash. Badly written and badly over-acted with terrible soap opera-like melodramatic dialogue and too much of the director trying to be clever.

Yup! That's the one, not a big kevin costner fan but he is decent in that.
Also:
"The Looming Towers" on BBC iPlayer.

Highly recommend this - Okay, so I've only seen Episode 1, but it is "Quality".
