very sad news - without Eric darts today would be nowhere near as big as it is.
I have always liked following the sport and put most of that down to watching Eric winning everything in the 80s.
he will always be the biggest name that sport will ever have.

A truly world class left back, a world cup winner and a humble bloke who went ton to be an undertaker when he finished playing.

Kevin Beattie passed away earlier in the week - a proper defender. Ipswich fans are requesting a statue of him, not sure that is practical, they already have one of Sir Alf Ramsey and Sir Bobby Robson.
Sadly slipped into gambling and alcohol problems I believe and sold his medals

I am greatly saddened to hear of the passing of Mary Oliver. For those not familiar with the name or her work, she; for me is America's greatest ever Poet. I am just so sad to hear of her passing.
This for me is one of her finest poems it had and still has great personal significance for me:
The Journey
One day you finally knew
what you had to do, and began,
though the voices around you
kept shouting
their bad advice –
though the whole house
began to tremble
and you felt the old tug
at your ankles.
“Mend my life!”
each voice cried.
But you didn’t stop.
You knew what you had to do,
though the wind pried
with its stiff fingers
at the very foundations,
though their melancholy
was terrible.
It was already late
enough, and a wild night,
and the road full of fallen
branches and stones.
But little by little,
as you left their voices behind,
the stars began to burn
through the sheets of clouds,

I used to go in the away end each weekend as a kid to watch him, Whymark, Mills, Mariner, Wark, Osman, fat cvnt Brazil, Thijssen, Osborne (scored the winner against us in FA cup final, '78), Burley, Gates, Brian Talbot was Arsenal eventually, and a top player for us.
The best thing was, John Lyall and the wonderful Bobby Robson. Two proper footy blokes and real gentlemen.

Yeah, they had a hell of a team back then - look likely to be relegated to the third tier but they have still won the league title more recently than the Middlesex vagabonds.

Never get bored of seeing the save. Everything about the clip is brilliant. The half volley cross, the leap from Pele and bullet header and of course the save. Top top keeper. Best England ever had.
