Most people see civil servants a doing nothing , earning reasonable pay and having infinite job security. Of course none are entirely true. Th new comers into the public service, now that there is some recruiting again, are on a paltry wage. Job security is looked on by the masses as a green card for public/civil servants to do what they want. Again not true, I saw a disciplinary matter involving public servants described on Facebook as "they are untouchable ". Not true disciplinary matter are as elsewhere, job security is safeguard against redundancy, not for indiscipline to reign.
I lost my job in 2010 after 30 years in the workforce because my former company , a renowned multi national firm, milked and used the recession to cut costs and reduce wages. There was a blatant disregard for loyalty, humanity and honesty. Our jobs are now up and running on half the wage we were on and the company are "in profit " ..If public servants have a guarantee that they will not face the nightmare I and my colleagues faced then I am very happy for them.
All true, BWK.

So sorry to hear about your job, mate. That's just terrible. Fucking awful to work so long like that and be cast aside. It is one area where CS workers are certainly more secure, they can only be removed on disciplinary grounds.

Also, NB123 - I should clarify, there are of course lots of wasters and useless lazy fuckers still in the CS over here, but my earlier points were that the perception is skewed unless compared to a similar entity (a very large multi-department conglomerate) is used in comparison. With the new impetus behind change management thinking here the CS is trying to bring in better people and pension off the deadwood.
You must be shittin yourself mate

Anyway I'll leave this here.

not that i read the daily mail, but on googling this case, yet again left wing allegations that had been rumoured by the left for years, i came across this.

littlejohn is a cock, and a swamp dweller to boot, but on this he makes some valid and interesting points. the accusers being labour activists is not insignificant.

http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article ... -them.html
Seriously anybody who quotes that moron Littlejohn in defence of their arguments, well is probably like him. It is very likely that the next Lord outed will be a Labour one, but of course that will fit the right wing agenda so will be front page on the Daily Fail.
bet it wont be a labour lord.

hardly fair to say im like littlejohn just because i dont adhere to your fevereishly left of centre view point and use fringe sensationalist websites to support my view...oh wait i did use the daily mail...anyway as its says all completely unsubstantiated and the accusers seemigly all have an agenda. just smack of the mcalpine incident to me though. whispers that gathered pace with no foundation in fact.
Just google Labour peer paedophile.
I await the apology.
The Labour peer Lord Janner of Braunstone will not face charges over alleged historical child sex crimes despite evidence from four police inquiries that he had been involved in the abuse of children, the director of public prosecutions has said.

Anybody got any new views on how the election is going?

That debate tonight was terrible viewing. No control, Leanne Wood and Natalie Bennett are a waste of space and fuelled by the typical leftist BBC audience.

Don't think the debates will have any significant impact on the outcome: an outright Cameron/Miliband debate might have done but so many faces and such little airtime just dilutes it.

I thought it was funny when Farage basically attacked the whole thing including the audience. I have to give him credit for saying what he actually thinks but I suspect he alienated a lot of voters last night.

Nicola Sturdgeon appears to be morphing into a young Angela Merkel with every TV appearance. Ukip manifesto is the only one that mentions equal rights for fathers and visiting rights for grand parents of alienated children. Farage is over playing the immigration card. Miliband is beginning to irritate me.
Just waiting for Cameron to come out with Wenger's favourite line, "judge me in May".

Why the fuck can't politicians hit a cue ball, bowl a bowling ball, kick a football or throw a dart? If the result is a hung parliament, all party leaders should be taken to a bowling arcade and participate in all in competition of bowling, pool, darts, air hockey and the one who gets more 2p coins out of that dastardly coin game, then they put in gets to be prime minister.

I've changed the poll option so you can change your vote if you want. If you do, please post the reason.

Hey there Skizz.
Hoping all is good mate.
I too, cannot believe the percentage of voters taken in by this Farage wanker and his racist vitriol.
He appeals to the lowest common denominator imo.
I'm not saying that the mainstream parties are worth voting for, in fact, we are not really voting as a democratic country as we know that its the corporates who really call the tune, but UKIP? Oh please.
UKIP will start with immigration issues, then down the line somewhere they will contest ones Britishness by colour, creed and sexuality from present back down ones ancestry.
Enoch Powell and the same shite.
A vote for UKIP, is a vote for ignorance. FACT

This has got to be the worst election ever. I cant decide whether to vote for a Tory who is useless as an MP, a labour guy who I know and like and has been a good constituency MP in the past but I hate the labour socialist shit, or UKIP, who are about the only ones who say it as it is, and dont talk shit in their syrupy tongues. But their vote is pretty much wasted, and its a marginal Tory Labour seat last time :| The country is still f**ked after Browns disastrous policies, though its improving economically.

Fair play to Clegg, who has given the country stability for the last 5 years but they are miles off the pace now.

Natalie Bennett is shockingly bad. Afraid I hate politicians who come from abroad and tell us what to do. Bryan Gould was another one as well as Peter Hain (Though they did both come over in their teens) If they have their opinions thats fine but if they want to govern us get back to your home country. I dont mind people born abroad and coming back as a kid, but really shes only ever been in the UK since 1999, 15 of her 49 years. Surely she cant honestly understand the British psyche traditions and such. :|

Aside from that the greens are up to their usual shit of trying to please all except "the rich"

Sturgeon is so awful, she isnt even sitting for a parliamentary seat- heaven help us if her party gets any say in the government, and in any case I cant see how it would work with the leader of a party not actually in the Commons where the government coalition of sorts works.

I like Leanne Wood, she is one year younger than Sturgeon (But looks about 15 years younger) she seems to be more sensible in her ideas. Shes had a lot to put up with the father of her child committing suicide. She did actually work in the real (ish) world too.

UKIPs policies are not racist, but quite rightly they feel that the fact that Europeans can walk in as they have uncontrolled in their millions has caused loads of problems with the countries infrastructure- school/ housing/ health. Cant see anything "racist" in saying we need to reduce the numbers- the country is pretty much full. Europen is total tripe- the agriculture fisheries policies are so terrible, alleged corruption appalling. not sure its remotely possible to achieve the huge changes from within. :|

What a mess
