Never a chance that FN would get elected - getting 35% in the run-off is absolutely astounding mind given that they lie about halfway between UKIP and the BNP. Worrying that around 11m people in such a multicultural society want to elect a bunch of raving lunatics. And anybody who equates a vote for the FN with a vote for Brexit is a fool.
Nobody would have won from Le Pen getting elected - Uk included. It would have plunged the EU into complete fight or flight mode, and the most likely way to foster an attitude of wanting to punish the UK to avoid France leaving which would absolutely ruin the EU.
And Macron has won the election but has zero MPs, whilst the effect of the run-off and all the other candidates backing Macron is that the FN is now presenting itself as the sole credible opposition and will continue to improve in electoral popularity unless the centre-right takes a huge leap to the right. The country is in complete political chaos.
Brexit 52 - 48
"a clear decisive victory"
Macron 66 - 34
"OMG France is so divided"
Rob im going to forget fights in the supermarkets and David Attenborough knows for once
Apart from Farage who said 52-48 was a clear victory?

Otherwise Front Nationale which is now the official opposition that everyone sneered at, will be marching through the Arc
De Triomphe... 35% in proportional representation terms is huge...
He has an uphill task domestically...
yet the 48% after the Brexit vote were dismissed as losers
what is clear is that the rest of Europe is rejecting all the populist parties.
Holland, Austria and now France - the UK is isolated
it should be becoming obvious that the EU27 is not going to give the UK a good deal.
all this crap about taking back control we have just lost all the power and influence that we used to have.
and what have we gained? Nothing but increasing debt, and poverty and being seen as a laughing stock on the world stage.

That's exactly what you are. Losers for voting remain in the first place and losers for embarrassing yourself daily at the result.

I've seen that posted on social media and it looked equally stupid there.
Even the most swivel-eyed loons I've seen haven't claimed that the electorate wasn't divided on Brexit. It would be utter nonsense to claim otherwise. But the argument being made (agree or not) is that that in itself isn't a reason to introduce shades into what was a dichotomic question. And the context of a one-off referendum is obviously different to the ever-changing game of political power.
I don't know about Macron but I'm glad France managed to stump up a charismatic candidate who beat Le Pen. However, France is now in a situation where they have a president with no MPs and a FN party who has positioned itself as the only credible 'opposition', given that every other leader keenly backed Macron (for good reasons).
France is divided because when faced with a stark choice, nearly 35% of voters decided that they wanted the radical leader of a far right-wing party to be their President. And as is the nature of being in opposition (unless you're Jeremy corbyn), they are likely to simply grow in popularity as they can sit back without having to have their records or policies scrutinised and criticise Macron for anything which goes wrong.

Like clockwork, Gunner Rob is here to gloat about his EU overlords getting a victory.
Macron is an establishment stooge that supports unlimited migration. He said the French should get used to terrorist attacks. I'm sure they can look forward to more now.
France, a once beautiful country ravaged by the third world. Can cross it off your list as a holiday destination for the foreseeable future.
Mainly because if you can afford to go after the collapse of the pound you will need some sort of visa.
which collapse is this? oh and getting a visa for other western non eu countries is so onerous isnt it...
Really ?
That's the bit that I have never seen satisfactorily substantiated.
We have a trade deficit with them , i.e We buy more than we sell so financially they will be worse off, not to mention when we stop filling their bank account they will be short of a lot of cash which a number of the receivers will not be prepared or even able to make up.
Sorry I can't see it.
Isn't it funny that the Brexit argument is that the UK doesn't need the EU because we can find other markets.
Well going on that logic the 27 EU countries can find other markets too!!
I am telling you again, the EU 27 will continue to tell you - Brexit is going to be a disaster for the Uk. Wake up!!
proof? i have this wonderful stone that keeps tigers away, how does it work,, it doesnt, but you dont see any tigers round here do you...

She is not far right. Many of her policies are socialist. The press labels her far right because of her tough stance on Islamic terrorism and migration. They really want to call her a nazi but can't for legal reasons.
France is fucked. Let them stew in the piss of the third world hellhole they seem to welcome and enjoy.

So she is a nationalist and a socialist. I wonder where that has been heard before. National Socialism (German: Nationalsozialismus), more commonly known as Nazism (/ˈnɑːtsɪzəm, ˈnæ-/[1]),
