81% of Welsh people can't speak Welsh, and only 5% speak it on a daily basis.

What's the situation with Gaelic in Ireland?

Not quite Joe.

The drive to offer welsh language lessons morning, day and evening has seen a huge shift and it is now compulsory unlike my school days when the pupils had to take welsh outside of the regular curriculum. we had to do Latin but Welsh was by request and in our own time only. :cry:

The last big survey in 2011 said 19% could speak Welsh.

In a smaller survey in 2013 - 2015 24%, over the age of three, said they could speak Welsh.

The Oirish national anthems are as shit as god saves the sponger.

The Welsh national anthem is very good :barscarf:
Officially it used to be "God Bless The Prince Of Wales" (Imposed on us by the Ingerlish) at least it was until 1905 when "Hen Wlad Fy Nhadau" (Land Of My Fathers) usurped it. :barscarf: :barscarf: :barscarf:

Hen Wlad Fy Nhadau

Mae hen wlad fy nhadau yn annwyl i mi,
Gwlad beirdd a chantorion, enwogion o fri;
Ei gwrol ryfelwyr, gwladgarwyr tra mad,
Dros ryddid collasant eu gwaed.

(Chorus)
Gwlad, gwlad, pleidiol wyf i'm gwlad.
Tra môr yn fur i'r bur hoff bau,
O bydded i'r hen iaith barhau.

Hen Gymru fynyddig, paradwys y bardd,
Pob dyffryn, pob clogwyn, i'm golwg sydd hardd;
Trwy deimlad gwladgarol, mor swynol yw si
Ei nentydd, afonydd, i fi.

Gwlad, gwlad, pleidiol wyf i'm gwlad.
Tra môr yn fur i'r bur hoff bau,
O bydded i'r hen iaith barhau.

Os treisiodd y gelyn fy ngwlad tan ei droed,
Mae hen iaith y Cymry mor fyw ag erioed,
Ni luddiwyd yr awen gan erchyll law brad,
Na thelyn berseiniol fy ngwlad.

Gwlad, gwlad, pleidiol wyf i'm gwlad.
Tra môr yn fur i'r bur hoff bau,
O bydded i'r hen iaith barhau.

There are various translations - depending on whether using Old Welsh or new (South Walian) welsh.

This is pretty close:

Hen Wlad Fy Nhadau

This land of my fathers is dear to me
Land of poets and singers, and people of stature
Her brave warriors, fine patriots
Shed their blood for freedom

(Chorus)
Land! Land! I am true to my land!
As long as the sea serves as a wall for this pure, dear land
May the language endure for ever.

Old land of the mountains, paradise of the poets,
Every valley, every cliff a beauty guards;
Through love of my country, enchanting voices will be
Her streams and rivers to me.

Land! Land! I am true to my land!
As long as the sea serves as a wall for this pure, dear land
May the language endure for ever.

Though the enemy have trampled my country underfoot,
The old language of the Welsh knows no retreat,
The spirit is not hindered by the treacherous hand
Nor silenced the sweet harp of my land.

Land! Land! I am true to my land!
As long as the sea serves as a wall for this pure, dear land
May the language endure for ever.

Was that before or after he had put his finger in you? Context is everything. :lol:
