4. season tickets continuing to sell, indicating support for Wenger is still there
5. the illusion of competing for the top 4 has been maintained

and that's not to mention the successful profits made off the pitch.
Disagree with these two points. Having a season ticket doesn't mean you support the manager as a lot are very long term season ticket holders who "Support The Team Not The Regime".

As we are currently sitting 8 points off 4th and barely been in the top 4, I'm not sure the illusion has been maintained.
Low is more likely, no way does Kroenke have the ambition to go for Allegri who would likely demand a hefty transfer fund on top of a hefty wage for himself
Wenger is one of the highest paid managers in football so we could easily pay any managers "hefty wage".

the bit about the season tickets was said a bit tongue in cheek, but whilst you are right that the supporters with season tickets might not feel that they support Wenger, the fact is that from the point of view of the club they do!!

if the season ticket holders had decided en masse to not renew a few years ago (never going to happen of course) then Wenger would be long into his unhappy retirement by now.

Competition in Europe's biggest leagues is being "destroyed" by clubs who have "huge financial power", says Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger.
Says the man who paid the biggest transfer fee in the last transfer window.

Pea and probably even Laca are evidence that he's losing his total authority over transfer policy.

I'd like to wish every Gooner a Happy Groundhog Day today :barscarf: 8)

We're just a few weeks shy of the 10th anniversary of the Eduardo Incident, which consigned us to a decade of Groundhog Seasons, waking up every morning at 6am to Sonny and Cher's 'I got you babe'.

Then put your little hand in mine,
There ain't no hill or mountain we can't climb...

I'm not having that - the Eduardo leg breaker was shocking for sure, but it certainly wasn't a game changer as regards to direction the club are going. It is too easy for some fans to cling to that incident, but the reality is that IF le senile c.unt had of purchased a striker in the transfer window (when everybody recognized that he needed to), then the injury might have been but a blip on the road of another successful season. Stripping the club of dressing room leaders has had a far more significant effect on the slide of our club imo

It was still a major turning point though. The players collapsed after that. We should have won the title that season, having all but dismantled the Invincibles side. These repetitive seasons started in 2008, with the dark days of the failed (and unnecessary) Project Youth, the austerity lie and paying little mind to the domestic cups, leading to the nine year drought.

Sure, the other turning points were the 50th game at Old Trafford, the CL final against Barcelona and Dein's sacking, which gave TOF total power until very recently. 2004-08 had many turning points that led us on the path of 14 years without a title and never winning the CL, including failing to strengthen the side when success was on the line, which is a staple of TOF. He royally fucked it up in 2011, 2014 and 2016 as well thanks to his rank incompetence and obsession with doing it 'his way'.

Which bears out my point about the lack of leaders within the squad - a few years previously robert pires was far and away the best player in the league when he cruely suffered a season ending cruciate injury, but instead of collapsing the team pulled together and went on to win the double. Incidents like the eduardo injury and the shrek dive to rob us of the 50th undefeated, are indeed bitter pills to swallow, but they were not the source of the problems and merely an after effect of them imo

Everyone uses the Eduardo incident as a turning point, as though had we hung on against Birmingham, we were on our way to the title, but more than likely we would have declined after the next fuck up, at some other ground. The point about the need for a striker is the main reason we didn't win the title. We relied heavily on Adebayor that season, but as soon as his goals dried up, we had no alternative. Had wanker signed an average striker to chip in with a couple of goals, we probably would have won the title. Funny how chasing the title we didn't need a striker, but the following January we bought Arshavin, when the top 4 was in doubt.

We have two 50m+ strikers, a 35m holding midfielder, a 35m defender, a 42m attacking midfielder, another attacking midfielder we swapped a player we paid 35m for.

And yet Wenger is complaining about money ruining football. How can he complain when he lost to Leicester City and in the past two years is consistently finishing below Tottenham?

You only have the right to complain about money, if its only clubs who spend more than you who beat you.

Even if it was a level playing field financially, he still wouldn't win.

You just know he has convinced himself they only reason he doesn't win is 'resources'. He is worse than a Donald Trump supporter when it comes to facts and reality. He just tells himself what he want to believe, and thats that.

I think this will be his last season as manager. It appears that Wenger has taken a back seat in this recent transfer window. Also a player like Özil is smart enough to realise Wenger has lost the ability to get the team to win the big prizes. I think as part of the new contract negotiation he was brought into the know on the plan to dispense with Wenger.

One hurdle we will have to jump through is the media gushing when he does go. For me he has shat all over his legacy and I hate him now. He has forced me to walk away from the club I have loved for 46 years.

In the last 6 weeks or so, we have played all 3 teams currently in the bottom 3 and collected a massive 2pts from those fixtures - hard to compete with those mega wealthy clubs

To date we have conceded the same number of goals as the team sitting rock bottom of the league - more proof, as if more proof is needed, that finances really is the significant factor in football performances

Wenger is kind of right but then he is very biased on the subject and in any case he should concentrate on doing his actual job, which he is paid very handsomely for, rather than trying to be some sort of footballing philosopher/prophet. Wenger has always had his head in the clouds whilst missing the point back on planet earth.

The Old Fraud got a bust back in 2007 when be became supreme dictator at the club.

Anyway, this old cúnt's deal with the devil continues on. The protest was rained off and we're currently destroying our deadly rivals for the Sixth Place Trophy. All he needs to do is fluke the League Cup at the end of the month and he's buried the protests for another year, despite a shite league season, by which time he could have signed yet another extension :suicide:
