If you isolate Xhaka and just watch him, besides giving away the odd needless free kick every now and again he actually does absolutely fuck all. He's never really out of position because he never gets forward, nor does he get back to defend so he is always more or less where he's meant to be, he just does fuck all wherever he is
This is it. He isn’t some talented but flawed player, or even a decent but short of the mark player.
He is an absolute fucking cart horse who offers zero getting forward, and despite not really getting dragged out of position he is fucking useless defensively and his only contribution is either hacking or hauling down anybody that runs at him.

He genuinely has no fucking redeeming features. Of all the things that have ever baffled me, how he is playing at this level will never be explained to me. I honestly think he would struggle to get into many if not most Championship sides.
