this is very un Arsenal.

I suspect that Dick has told him that Chambers, Bielek and Holding are to be the 1st choice CB's thsi season, and he will no longer be a starter but is still needed as back due to our limited finances, and so he's become a right moody cow about it.
According to the Evening Standard, Bielek wants away - because he has been told he doesn't feature in Emery's 1st team plans, and AC Milan is interested

We all know Kos was done before this came out. That it has, suggests there is no back up plan to replace him. (Silly me, the one we want won't be playing for us next year as he'll be loaned back)
The only ones who were close to being leaders (Cech or Ramsey) are gone or Kos.
One 18 year old kid and all the dross still there.
Mid table is looking like a good season.
It goes from bad to worse. We are really in the shit this season.

It's funny but when I first heard this my immediate reaction was what a prick.

But having had a bit of a think about it, it really does say more about the club than it does about Kos that we are in such a shit state that we can't allow a 33 year old crock to head home and grab a deal for himself because we can't get our shit together.

We let Wilshire, Ramsey and every other fucker piss off under their own steam or for free but we are now going to make an issue of Kos - it's not a good situation and I'm not giving Kos a pass but perhaps we should be in a place where our plans for defence didn't involve us worrying about keeping a geriatric defender who turns 34 in September. Just a thought.
He's been shit for years, (mind you with that *word censored* Mustafi alongside, would give you nightmares) but in his defence we don't know the full strength of it, may have been an agreement between player and club for him to leave, and they reneged, think that would be fairly typical behaviour now from this once great club, now more concerned with being seen to be politically correct than upholding the tradition of Herbert Chapman, Tom Whittaker, Bertie Mee and Don Howe.

Yeah it will be interesting to see what the club said to him at the end of last season, probably something along the lines of not to worry and that the contract extension probably wouldn't be actioned. Fast forward 12 months and now it's sorry Kos we're skint so you've got to stay.

The fact that he would rather go and play in France now which is a micky mouse league rather than spend a final year at our place just shows you what he thinks of our set up going forward.

Apparently he has three offers from France if he is available on a free - if we're after a fee for an almost 34 year old crock then we're pathetic and the fact that we are reliant on a 33/34 year old defender is pathetic too. So along with Monreal we are now triggering final year extensions to all our oldies who probably all fancied a move home for an easy final year or two.

What next.....are we going to give TA6 and some of the old boys a bell to see if they fancy a game. Utter bollox.

Hold up - for starters it was an accepted fact that kos wanted to leave last season prior to his injury anyway, and his desire to go back to france has nothing to do with where we are now.
Secondly he might be almost 34 years old, but he still has value hence why 3 teams want him. Has he done enough in his time with us to justify granting him a free transfer ? Fcuk no, so why would you reward him for throwing his dummy out of the pram by letting him go for free. He signed the contract (with the added season option), and was happy to stick with us when he was injured for most of last season despite previously expressing his intention to fcuk off home, so now the only way he should be allowed leave is under OUR TERMS

Well his desire to go back to France may well have been intensified by where we are now.

He has fuck all value at 34 and the 3 teams after him are no mark French clubs.

So we keep an unhappy player and pay him £90 - 100k pw when he doesn't want to be here and we're skint.

We've no idea whether he's been promised something which has been reneged on or whether he spat the dummy.

After numerous contract fu.ck ups we decide to make a stance over a 34 year old crock.

Kos is the past and this is all quite pointless. If we are really bothered by a 34 year old then we are even more fu.cked than I thought we were.

18 years old and this dick thinks he is entitled to throw his toys out of the pram as well ?? :censored: :censored:

We can all blame AFC for a lot of shit that goes on in our club, but this type of b.ullshit that we have seen from kos and before him costa and mahrez is a cancer that is in the modern game, and is the reason why a kid that has done nothing in his career feels entitled to throw a wobbler

Not everything wrong is the club's fault - sometimes it is just bad manners and a lack of respect from ungrateful c.unts

Lyon are NOT a no mark club

We have fcuked up royally in too many contract situations in the past - haven't we said it was something we wanted address moving forward, and isn't it something the club vowed to rectify ? There is step one of what I hope will be a full-time change in contracts situations

He’s under contract for another year so should stop being such a prick.

Not the clubs fault that Kos is too shit for another club to be willing to stump up some cash for him

HEADLINE:Bordeaux Offer Laurent Koscielny Three-Year Deal as Defender Pushes for a Move Away From Arsenal
DATE: TODAY
SITE:90MIN.COM
WRITER:Tolga Akdeniz

https://www.90min.com/posts/6409253-bor ... =[arsenal]

The main BELOW part i'd like to show you, which is exactly what I've been thinking

"According to the Mirror, Arsenal had been in no rush to extend Koscielny's current contract which is into its final year, and as a result, he has been the subject of much interest from a number of Ligue 1 clubs including Rennes and Lyon.

However, it was believed that Arsenal were unwilling to let him go this summer due to a lack of defensive options and the fact that Shkodran Mustafi is now surplus to requirements. "

AGREED AF!!

" The Gunners' plan was to let his contract run down and then allow him to leave on a free next summer, but with Koscielny seemingly attempting to cut ties, this is now looking less likely.

This will now give Unai Emery a major headache, as Calum Chambers is likely to be sold or loaned out while Rob Holding is still missing with a long-term injury.

This could leave Arsenal with just Sokratis and Mavropanos as the only fit centre backs at the club. "

Mavropanos Came in Brand New lase season....& Missed All of it.

In a one team league they're a no mark club. Ffs they have Remi Garde as their manager.

We have fucked up in too many contract situations and I fucking hate the amount of money we've pissed away but this isn't the contract to be laying down a marker. You make the point with somebody who actually matters not a bleeding has been who we should be putting out to pasture for all our sakes. Auba is out of contract in June 2021 so let's see what the club do next year as he enters the final year of his contract. That's the sort of contract we need to be getting right instead of wasting our time on moral indignation over Kos.

I suspect Kos has had a good old cry over all of this. Weak willed quitter. Always been unreliable, certainly WAY past being decent so absolutely no harm in him going. I wish Monreal did the same, could be the only way to get rid of the dead wood!!

In 99% of instances in modern football, the player holds all the power so it's nice to see the club actually bite back at this entitled, pampered prick. The problem i have with this is the cheek in attempting to dictate the terms of his own exit when the club has been nothing but loyal to him despite error after error. Due to him, we lost a league cup final and a EL semi-final, not to mention the countless mistakes in league games, maybe a bit of appreciation wouldn't go amiss. I hope he receives a massive fine and is fucked into the reserves, maybe then it will send a message.

So here is a question for all those that are laying all this on the club, are ye saying that kos is right and we should let him go on a free now ? :?

He may not matter as much anymore for his on pitch performances, but he is still captain and would still be respected in the dressing room, and his behaviour and the clubs reaction to it, will have long term implications make no mistake.

Next season or the season after that we will probably have another scenario like this IF kos wins this war, and most of you will be up in arms and demanding the club refuse to give in - precedent will be there
