KROENKE OUT / The Board / Staff etc (merged thread)

As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.

I would something to cleanse us of the latter Wenger era and all the unwanted baggage he attracted to the club.
The arrival of the numpties, tarquins & tourists started with the shite Nick Hornby book, the new divie breed of fans were even called Hornbys at that time, Add in the start of the Premier League & Euro '96 & the supporter demographic had already changed before Wenger arrived.

Big difference between 94 & 95 CWC finals, proper old school support in Copenhagen, everyone who went got into the game, a year later, thousands of old school supporters struggling to get briefs outside the ground. Not surprisingly the vocal support inside in 95 was much worse!
Yeah I think the Fever-Pitch book came out just before or around the time of the regeneration to certain elite parts of Islington, so there is certainly some truth to that mate.

I was more referring to the sort of passionless, non-competitive ''football is art'' / ''collective expression'' culture that Wenger instilled. A culture where arrogance and a superiority complex act as a cover for not being able to win. The sort of bullshit that appeals to champagne socialists and the liberal elite.

The Arsenal Bond - paying circa a grand to secure the right to have season ticket.
The clock end boxes and finally the new North Bank all pandering to the rich or scaring people into paying money they can’t afford to secure a bond for the club you love just to guarantee watching them.
Once it started, pushing out the old school (spelt right) support it’s just snowballed and got to the stage where they are in the majority.

Islington itself gentrified and watching (at that time ) a successful club, was akin to seeing a concert / art exhibition or whatever posh people do.

Islington might have gentrified over the years but the entire Borough of Islington area certainly hasn't :barscarf:

Still plenty of traditional Gooners round the manor, the posh areas in Cannonbury, Upper Street / Islington Green always were mostly middle class, but away from the yuppie wine bars & restaurants , the borough has it's still got it's rough edges. :box:

Holloway & Finsbury Park still haven't changed into HIghgate & Crouch End, the Cally hasn't changed into Barnsbury as of yet. There's probably more posh areas in Hackney & most certainly Camden nowadays than Islington.

At least Islington isn't a Jekyll & Hyde borough with nice Gooner dominated areas like Highgate, Crouch End, Muswell Hill, Hornsey thrown in with scumbag Tottenscum & the rest of the Middlesex Swamplands :cussing:

Despite the wealth in the area the borough is listed in the top 10 poverty lists. It also has some mean estates and is the no.1 place for moped shop raiders.

only way Kroenke will start taking notice is when we no longer play European football - could be next season or in 5 years time.
thing is when that happens the price of a season ticket at Arsenal will have to come down because at the moment the extra games are of course included.

it is going to be a very rocky ride this season - anyone who criticises Emery will be totally missing the point.

This isn't an attack on season ticket holders because they have their reasons for buying but wiggy wont care about this statement because the tickets are bought and the merchandise is selling.

The fanbase wont unite to protest which is a real shame because after wenger I was sure that was the next step.

Hopefully all the groups that united for this statement will get some sort of protest going.

I admire the Liverpool support for how they pushed out their previous owners.

Ticket sales for the emirates cup are abysmal, I know it's not the same as a league game but it's a definite warning sign for the club.

i thought that the point of this article was that the fanbase was uniting.
and you are right - Liverpool supporters didn't stand for it and nor should we.

if it takes boycotting matches then some supporters might need to grow up a bit and be a little less selfish in their actions.

Recall some people argued ad nuseaum that he would never sack the French potato. Well he did.

Who drafts these statements ? To me the statement is as passive and devoid of emotion, as anything we are seeing from the kroenke's  Where is the anger/frustration at our continued shameful/embarrassing efforts in the transfer market ? We all know that there are A LOT of things wrong with our club, but a lot of the issues and frustration will drift away if we see ambition from the club

Statements like this are too diluted for me liking

I understand your point Augie, but I'd ask that everyone on this forum gets behind this initiative. A handful of people were involved in wording that statement and some of us wanted a stronger, more direct line. Personally, I thought it was too broad in its scope (for example, I'd have left out mention of the match day experience and the European Super League for a start) and for me, there's one problem that's light years ahead of any other and that's Stan Kroenke. I'd have unequivocally targeted him and very directly, asking him to explain his ambitions for the Club and how / when they will be achieved. Others preferred this approach. Bottom line, something was needed and I think this was a good shot across the bows to get things moving.

Once the ball is rolling and if, as expected, the Club continues to slide backwards, with transfer activity and on-field performance being as dire as we all expect, then things will ramp up. This is going to be a long fight, a war of attrition and the vital aspect, is that ALL like minded supporters get fully behind it. The Wenger Out campaign was soul destroying frankly. Try as we might, we couldn't rally sufficient support (although in retrospect, perhaps we had a bigger effect than I realised at the time) and never got close to mass protest inside the stadium, which is vital.

However, I believe that this will be different. Absolutely no one has any sentimental attachment to the Kroenkes and everyone understands that we're finished as long as he owns the Club. It's already clear that far more fans are jumping on board and who knows, even our large contingent of supine, lobotomised mutes, might be prepared to cast a disapproving look in the direction of the Director's Box !

There has been a huge effort to launch this campaign on social media and in the MSM, with many doing a fabulous job (I don't include myself in that, I'm a technophobic dinosaur) and the reaction has been fantastic. Can I ask ALL the guys on here to PLEASE get behind this, retweet, tweet yourself to followers, follow other tweeters (I ain't got a clue what I'm talking about  ) and sign the petition.

He bought the shares, but we own the soul. There's no guarantees, but if our entire fan base shows a solid, united front and gets totally behind this, then we have a chance. What we must not do, is complain and do nothing.

KROENKE OUT !
