Lewis Dunk I would prefer but sadly we cant compete with the financial might of brighton so he is out of our price range
We are moving to compete with the South Coast's elite
It's why we left Highbury! :barscarf:

The Mail claim Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang plotted a shock move to Chelsea in January... but the deal collapsed over his high wage demands. https://t.co/XRej2dJgsg #Arsenal

According to the Mirror, #Arsenal will this week offer Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang a £250,000-per-week, 3-year deal to stay at the Emirates. https://t.co/VdOY4UrFjY

Arsenal will offer Aubameyang a new £250k a-week deal this week in a bid to keep him at the Emirates. Club owner Stan Kroenke has sanctioned a new three-year-deal for Aubameyang following talks with the star's representatives. [@CrossyDailyStar]

The Mail say #Arsenal are ready to cash in on several stars to raise funds for Mikel Arteta's rebuild. Lacazette or Bellerin could be sold if a sizeable offer is made for either player. Sokratis, Guendouzi, Torreira, Kolasinac, Mustafi & Holding are all for sale. https://t.co/Bjt05f2q52

Arteta wants Thomas Partey & the club have a long-term interest in Willian. #Arsenal are interested in Coutinho but financing a deal for the former Liverpool star could prove difficult. https://t.co/d3dhRCSUDW

#Arsenal also want to sign a central defender & to extend midfielder Dani Ceballos' loan from Real Madrid. https://t.co/JFX00lD2t6

According to @francefootball, Willian to #Arsenal is very advanced with the Gunners offering the Brazilian a 3-year contract. https://t.co/Yy8V9J2ULm

However, the Brazilian is pushing to get an option to extend for an extra year. Real Madrid & Manchester United have both offered him a 2-year contract. https://t.co/Hka4zx29gk

Reports (correctly) say Willian is 31, however he turns 32 next week so he’d be nearly 35 once his lucrative 3 year deal expires.

Seems risky to me. Not many players that age are still top class :rubchin:

No wonder chavs won’t offer him more than 2 years.

Please note; those people that think mustafi has turned a corner and improved it is a myth, we have made it to four cup since he joined the club. He has played in two, guess which two he hasn't played in? That's right the two we won. In addition our league position has dropped and our goals conceded has gone up. In each cup final his replacement was rob holding. When holding was playing regularly in the first team before his acl injury we went 22 games unbeaten. The longest unbeaten run with mustafi in the team is 6 matches. Holding must stay, and Mustafi must be sold if Arteta wants to improve the squad.
We lost at spurs because when they kept hitting the ball over the RWB towards mustafi and harry kane made mincemeat of him every time. That's no pace, glass ankle Harry Kane. leicester, liverpool, wolves and sheffield united did the same, even brighton spotted that weaknes. Can you imagine what Pulisic would've done to mustafi had he played in the final. Similar to what Hazard done to him. I'm not saying holding is the answer to our defensive problems, it just as a squad player player he is better than mustafi. I hope the injury doesn't work in his favour and avoids getting sold.

I said all that yesterday on page 36 of the cup final thread - can I sue the daily mail for using my post without permission ? Must be worth a decent amount I would think :rubchin:

My only concern with this transfer is that it may mean we are going to sell aubameyang. Why buy an experienced right sided forward player when we already have plenty of cover there in pepe, nelson, saka and amn? To me it means auba will be sold, pepe will be moved in to support lacazette (who is younger than auba, and more time left on his contract). Not forgetting we have martinelli who once fit can also play down the middle.
Also, giving willian a 3 year contract is no different to given aubameyang a 3 year contract as they are the same age.

Makes absolutely no sense to sign him - his age and contract demands should rule it out for starters, but either way he wouldnt fill a position of need cos we have too many that can play the position as it is. Signing willian (IF it happened) would be another example of arteta favouring an older players and that isnt right imo

If we buy all the brazillians we are linked to, I hope they can entice Neymar and Jesus to join. Although, in Martinelli I think we have a player that will be better than either of those two.

He's a Kia Joorabchian player, who has his claws into the Arsenal board. Coutinho is one of his too so don't be surprised if he ends up here too!

I posted this a while ago and is quite worrying! https://www.theguardian.com/football/20 ... ity-crisis

Agreed. He's too old to waste huge wages on just because he's available on a free.

According to @brunovicari, Willian has decided to join #Arsenal & they hope to announce his signing in the coming days. https://t.co/yJL5fAHeNP

Man City & Manchester United both enquired about Willian in recent days but he chose #Arsenal because they offered him the longest contract. He won't play for Chelsea again. https://t.co/P1hh2PjWjk

Strange signing ( if we do) wouldn’t be on my list at all.
