As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.
Firstly I didn’t say the post was by LeGrove, I said it’s was on their website so whether they are in cahoots with the club or not makes no difference as they can’t control who chooses to make comments on there.
Secondly, I have no issue with our scouting network being canned if all they can cling to is “but they bought through Cesc, Bellerin and Martinelli”. One good player, one potentially good player, and one that we are alledgely looking to sell this summer as he’s not up to it is not an impressive record for the past two decades! What about the other 50 signings that have been absolute dross? Inamoto, the squid, cygan, benayoun, Sanogo....I could go on..
The scouts are hardly the problem are they? We've had to nick the likes of Martinelli from Brazil and Guendouzi from France. Generally the scouts do ok. It's the shameful c.unts who run our academy that I blame - not a home grown CB or CF worthy of the name for 20 years. I certainly won't shed a tear for any of those fucktards in the dole queue. Our academy must be the worst in the top flight despite having the so called master of developing youth talent for 22 years
It is ridiculous to expect any scouting department to have more successes than failures cos it isnt realistic, plus (as Steve O rightly says), the development of said player could be destroyed by wenger or whatever manager is in charge, and you cant put that on the scouts
Edu wants the club to move to a more data and analytics-driven approach which has proved so successful for the likes of Liverpool and Man City, and away from the old fashioned system of having scouts specialising in different locations around the world.

Good point about the academy. I was having a similar discussion on that subject on here a couple of years ago and got called out for stating that the academy hadn't really earned it's crust of late. When I asked the poster who I was forgetting he came back with all the boys from the late 80s - 30 bloody years ago
Cashley is the only really quality player that came through in more recent times and we managed to fu,ck things up there. I'm afraid that nicking Barca kids and claiming them as success stories is stretching the facts a little bit too far imo.

The best retort I usually get is Fabregas, Bellerin and Wilshere. Well we got the first because of the employment law gap between Spain and England in terms of the age you can offer a professional contract (as was the case when we pinched Anelka a couple of decades back), so nicking players from Barca hardly counts. Wilshere in fairness could have been an outstanding player were it not for endless injuries but take a look at the centre forward and centre half positions. Who has been produced as a home grown, genuine PL level talent from that academy. I can't think of any. We've spunked money on shit like Mustafi, Luiz, Squillachi, Silvestre, Mertesacker, and fuck knows how many others and at the other end signed gormless *word censored* like Chamakh, Park, Perez etc and seriously couldn't produce a single youth prospect better than any of them?
Must be the worst performing Academy of all top six clubs. Look at each of them in turn and ask where is our Foden, Alexander-Arnold, Mount, Rashford, Kane, Chilwell etc. Every team as at least one player they can say would be home grown and worth 50m plus. Where's ours?? Its been like it for years too.

Saka looks like he will make it but the jury is still out on Willock and Reiss Nelson. Hopefully ESR will come good but after that we're back to whether Zech Medley is going to make it or not. When we were at Boreham Wood last he had a bit of a time up against a couple of big strong lumps that BW had in their team and he looked way off the big time. Their two were both outmuscling and outjumping him which for a lad who is 6'4" isn't what you want to see.

With young talent like Saliba and the potential signing of Gabriel from Lille I would think that puts Medley’s likelihood of making it here pretty close to zero.
Btw everyone seems to have forgotten Iwobi who we got £30m + for who came through our academy

I for one have certainly been trying to!
Yeah, what you playing at Stuart bringing AI's name up on here now. That's got to be close to getting a ban.
Also I'm conscious that I am into tower territory so if somebody could post a pair of tits quick then that should get me out of the shit.
PS - OBG - a pic of wiggy and son won't cut it mate
Thank God for Comedy Everton who we managed to take Wally and him for about 50m combined
Perhaps they'd like a closer look at Ozil, Mustafi and Xhaka
I think the Iwobi deal is one of the best we've ever done sell wise ,but back in the day I was full of praise for GG who got 650,000 from Cellic under Liam Brady for Martin Zico Hayes who played about 3 games b4 being shipped out !

ESPN say there had been growing discontent at the way transfers were being run at the club, with an investigation launched into whether #Arsenal overpaid when they bought Nicholas Pepe for £72m. https://t.co/xFMOudnS0N
