Chants Would Be A Fine Thing

As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.

Chants Would Be A Fine Thing

Post by T.S »

OK. We're going to do this, and we're going to do it properly. I don't know about you lot, but I used to love being in the North Bank and right before the start of the match, belting out a song for (almost) each and every player. What the hell has happened to those days? Well sod it, if we want those days back, it's up to us. Providing this thread is a success, I'll get on to REDaction or bring Ed's attention to it, or something.

I'll get the ball rolling. If you've been reading other threads, these won't be new to you, but I think it's important to have them all in one place.

Oh, and if it's an obscure tune, try to provide a YouTube link or something...

Mathieu 'Flanimal' Flamini;

To the theme tune of The Sweeney http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Vg0Ry47Bl24…

Flamini, Flamini
He’s our Demetrio Albertini
Flamini, Flamini
He sold me a red Lamborghini*
Na na na naaaaa
Na na na na naa na na na na

Alex 'Hlebmeister' Hleb;

To the tune of KC and the Sunshine Band - Baby Give It Up.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JuWC3P1wH_o

Na-na, na-na, na-na, na-na, na, na, na,
Alexander Hleb, Alex Hleb,
Baby, Alex Hleb.
Na-na, na-na, na-na, na-na, na, na, na,
Alexander Hleb, Alex Hleb,
Baby, Alex Hleb.

Come on boys and girls, be imaginative.

Here's some of the one's i wrote as well as the duo with gooner jim.

When we found ourselves in times of trouble Arsene Wenger came to me
Speaking words of wisdom, sell Henry
And when we got the cash from Barcelona who would our new striker be?
Arsene said politely: van Persie
van Persie, van Persie, van Persie, van Persie, he will be the answer, van Persie

And when the arsenal supporters
Living in the world say hehe,
They no what the answer is, van persie, van persie
For though they may be half hearted
hopefully they will see
There will be an answer, just wait and your see
Van Persie,Van persie. Yeah
There will be an answer, Van persie, Van persie.

Let it be (beatles)

I can see his darting runs from a thousand miles
And the heavens open every time he smiles
come to that, that’s where are players belong
When they jump and cheer when they hear their songs

They give us goals, goals, goals, goals, amazing goals
They give us goals, goals, goals, goals, amazing goals.
(Crazy love van morrison)

(Fields of athen reigh)
Outside the marble halls
I heard a north bank calling
Chapmen they have taken you away
But you left a great eleven
Before you went to heaven
Now it’s glory round the fields of ashburton grove

All round the fields of ashburton grove
Where we once watched Thierry henry play ( and he could play)
We had Pires on the wing
We had dreams and we could sing
Now it’s glory round the fields of ashburton grove

Outside the east stand walls
I heard a clock end calling
Graham they have taken you away
You managed the great 11
Back at wembley in 87
But now we are playing a different way

All round the fields of ashburton grove
Where we once watched Thierry henry play (and he could play)
We had Freddie on the wings
We had dreams and we could sing
Now it’s glory round the fields of ashburton grove

I did one for Fabregas as well but need to find that one.

The "RVP" tune to the Beatles is just quality. Sung it out in Amsterdam with a few others, an absolute anthem. Another is

"We believe in Arsene Wenger my o my,
We believe in Arsene Wenger my o my,
He's a frenchman with a plan,
Arsene Wenger is our man,
We believe in Arsene Wenger my o my!!!

I dont know the name of the tune but "Baso" came up with it.
Solid

I hate the Theo chant come on people surely we are capable of much better than THEO, THEO, THEO

There several songs we could adapt for him walking in a Theo's wonderland, Keowns old song, there's only one Theo!
Someone suggested on a facebook site the outhere bros BOOM BOOM BOOM (let me hear you say Theo...THEOOO)

Great idea TS. We need more songs deffo. And if we're all chipping in, I always liked that "Wo Rocky Rocky..." we did it for Overmars too. Think I heard it sung about Hleb before (although that might just have been me drunk... :? )

"Oh Hlebby Hlebby! Hlebby Hlebby Alexander Hleb!"

Do you mean...

Oh Cesc Fabregas you are the love of my life,
Oh Cesc Fabregas i'd let you shag my wife,
Oh Cesc Fabregas, your Arsenal through and though, AND YOU HATE MAN U.
Oh cesc Fabregas...

Or

Cesc Fabregas is his name,
And he used to eat paella down in Spain,
He was born to be a Gooner,
We should have got him sooner,
Cesc Fab-re-gas is his name.
