Van Persie saga, officially not extending contract.

As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.

Van Persie saga, officially not extending contract.

Post by Resident Plastic »

On the BBC live text, he's just given an interview

"We will have a chat next week somewhere. You never know but Arsenal is a massive club, a great club. I have been playing here for eight years and I love this club. Whatever happens that will never change."

"We will see. We will have a chat and go from there."

He's basically just said he's leaving

Does any of us expect him to say that he will stay at the club for life? I have no doubt he loves the club but its only natural for him to keep his options open. If one or both of Real and the whores want him, he will be of that's for certain. Those are the only 2 clubs I can see him leaving us for.

I think it's a bit obvious he's going to wait until next week and on the day he wants to be told straight who the club have in mind for signings, and if there are any big players then he would want names. If he is to be told it's a load of French players no-ones ever heard of, then he would want to leave.

I dont know what will happen but if he got a big offer abroad I wouldnt blame him. Just hope he doesnt go to Manchester.

I'm sure he'd love to stay and challenge for the title, but unless Wenger does something drastic that wont happen in my opinion.

I'm sure hes seen the lads at city today and thought I want that.

He wants what we want! Ambition.

I just hope if we don't show the ambition he wants , he goes to spain not another English club.

Well one thing's for sure, 'money is no guarantee of success' as Nasri and Clichy found out to their chagrin today, sooo at least we know no chance he will join Cit....

Well I hope everything is sorted after these talks and we'll know one way or the other. I think Podolski will be the only replacement we sign anyway but if by some miracle Wenger does plan to sign anyone else we can get on with that straight away.

The game's been over for like what, 4-5 hours? Let the man rest after a long season, I'm sure he's sick of talking about it.

When he makes his decision, we will react accordingly - as both a club and as supporters. As the latter, we have to remember no player is bigger than the club. As the former, we have to make smart re-investment if he decides to leave.
