This is what Spain did at the Euros when they won it. They played 1-10-0 with Fabregas as the most advanced player. Although Torres did come off the bench most games and won the golden boot. Maybe Cesc can solve our striker problems?DB10GOONER wrote:GranadaJoe wrote:Ah the glorious 1-10-0 formation that Wenger has been working towards for 20 years. A goalkeeper and your ten midfielders would be an interesting formation, but sadly doesn't leave room for a forward.
Plus saw Cesc once parked outside a newsagent opposite the Nags Head on Holloway Rd an hour after a match. His friend needed some monster munch or something

Right then, seems he will in fact be forced out:

In all likelihood, he'll be back here.
Team balance/formation issues aside, acquiring a world class player can never be a bad thing - we just have to make sure we still get the necessary players in along with him, i.e., a striker, DM, RB, GK.

swap Ozil for Morata and Di Maria
Buy Cesc for 25m
Pogba for 30m
Coleman for 20m
----------------------------Morata/Giroud
Di Maria------------Fabregas---------Ramsey--------------Cazorla/Walcott
----------------------------------Pogba-----------------
Gibbs--------------Kosch---------------Merty-------------------Coleman

It does indeed look like we are going to be in a real quandary now .......either sign Cesc or sit idly by as he signs for one of our biggest rivals. Would want Cesc above any of our current midfielders (or any current player for that matter) but unless we were going to sell either cazorla or ozil (or both) then I wouldn't sign him tbh

He should be signed, the biggest problem with this squad over the last few years is that too many of the first team have been comfortable in their positions because they know they will play regardless of form (in most cases) as the back ups were not good enough.
Conjest it a bit and we get genuine competion for the shirt which will make everyone up their game, its down to the manager to manage, thats what the 8m a year is for.

Re: [POLL] Should we buy back Cesc Fabregas?
Remember what our esteemed leader always says? We will only buy players who improve on what we already have at the club. So is Cesc better than any of the midfielders we already have? Yes and I would argue more consistent. So it's a no brainer for me, he's at his peak and if it means selling either Cazorla or Ozil then do it.
Is he a priority? No but you make room for him by offloading Diaby and Podolski and then go out and buy in the positions we all know we need to fill.
Cesc Fabregas is a WORLD CLASS PLAYER. He's a game changer, intelligent and knows our league. For 30 million and a bit of squad juggling we'd be mad not to take him back.

Don't know about the veracity of this, but the Telegraph claims Wenger is NOT interested:

Re: [POLL] Should we buy back Cesc Fabregas?
Arsenal have turned down the chance to sign Cesc Fabregas even though the player is available for £30million.
