Please sate my curiosity!!!
Ok so only just noticed that just to the left of thread titles, there is a little icon. Most are circles with horizontal lines in the middle. Some icons the lines are scrolling up and some the lines don't move. And other times the icon is shaped like a lightbulb.
Why? Does anyone know the difference between these and why different threads have different icons? I would just like to know

Shaped like a light bulb means it's a 'sticky' - stays at the top.
I believe lines are scrolling when somebody is reading that particular thread.

Do they have a star in the icon if you have personally contributed to the thread? If the icon is a padlock then the stasi have decided to end the debate and locked it

Yes a little red star appears if you have posted on that thread.Red Snapper wrote:Do they have a star in the icon if you have personally contributed to the thread?

If there's a star it means the other forum users have voted you 'star poster' on that threadRed Snapper wrote:Do they have a star in the icon if you have personally contributed to the thread? If the icon is a padlock then the stasi have decided to end the debate and locked it

Slight correction, if the icon is padlocked then the stasi have decided to end the debate for us plebs but to carry on riling us all by posting references to Star wars, weed, height or all 3. Its pure Augie fodderRed Snapper wrote:Do they have a star in the icon if you have personally contributed to the thread? The real story is;
padlock = locked thread because some arsemonkey broke the rules
scrolling lines = unread posts
static lines = no unread posts
star = your work IT are checking your porn access stats.

Isn't the colour of the lines (red/grey) indicative of whether there are unread posts?DB10GOONER wrote:The real story is;

Ive found the grey highlighting very useful when our administrators come behind my shoulder to see what areas of the forum Ive been looking at.
Thanks for this most useful help, I can now prove Ive not accessed Barrys thread till theyve gone home
