This foghorn voiced COW is ruining the Danny Baker show on Five Live for me. She also does the station idents, so obviously has an over-powered and grating voice, not to mention the stupid mock-horror voice she does when DB comes out with another piece of random and incredible trivia. She worked with him on TFI Friday, so she's more on his wavelength than her predecessor Lynsey Hipgrave, who despite being clueless on most of the things Danny came out with, that also kept him in check. As much as I love Danny, he's getting really annoying and that dreadful woman, 'Peps', doesn't help. I've been catching up on about 16 months worth of podcasts and I have overdosed. The Sausage Sandwich Game takes forever and his endlessly going off on tangents is getting exasperating. Sadly, I don't think she'll be poached for another job unlike her predecessors; I still miss Issy Clarke.

I am amazed that the vanguard of the anti-PC crowd here were themselves lefties in a previous life
What an irony! I am vehemently anti-PC and have to restrain myself from going off on one on the decay of British society and culture. I despise all politicians, especially the careerist scum that they largely are today. I'd have them all lined up and shot for betraying the British people for generations. I'm amazed Herd still supports Labour, despite his admitting of all the damage they have done in the last twenty years, giving away council flats to the 'immigrant of the week' as he says. These modern champagne socialists in Westminster have a lot to answer for. The Tories aren't much better; stick your bedroom tax up your arse.
I especially despise the Labour Party for abandoning and betraying the British working class and becoming the party of mass immigration and open borders. I think it is a suicidal nation-wrecking policy which is damaging and draining the NHS and the welfare state, as mentioned by other posters who have to deal with it in their jobs. Merkel is drowning Europe with immigrants, no thanks to countless Western interventions in Asia and Africa. We're even getting immigrants from South America now, despite the Empire having almost fuck-all to do with that region. I am a cultural conservative, in that I want Britain to remain British and celebrate the many cultures and traditions in our United Kingdom - England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland; but I also believe in the welfare state and universal healthcare. So be that as it may, no party represents me (and perhaps millions of others). With the outdated first-past-the-post system ensuring we are stuck with a two-party system, neither choice is any good and as I live in a safe seat, voting is an utterly pointless (but necessary) exercise.
I wouldn't mind the Scandinavian model of a hybrid capitalist-socialist system, only without the bonkers mass immigration (which is ruining Sweden right now). I think Universal Basic Income is an interesting idea that will have to come into being someday, with rising automation of jobs, but it could not be done with these open borders. It seems the NHS is being sabotaged and council housing is non-existent, with endless yuppie flats being built in London and to hell with the poor. It's vile. We can't solve the world's problems. We have enough troubles of our own, seeing as we're still struggling with the post industrial economy and dealing with Chinese sweatshops robbing jobs from the West. To hell with globalism. It's a race to the bottom. I shudder to think what the country will be like in another thirty years time.
