I think "toe the party line" is some kind of foot fetish - gus is just subliminally getting naughty references inSPUDMASHER wrote:gus ceasar is a legend wrote:Anyone who fancies the job can have it now!
Just as long as you toe the party line and have the kind of opinions that suit everyone!
I think you'll find it is 'tow' not 'toe' Gus. Would you like me to edit your post for you

Come on Gus, an over-reaction surely? And what exactly is the 'party line'? I'm unaware of being under orders to 'tow' anything, except making sure that stuff that breaks UK Laws are quickly deleted. Aside from the fact that it was decided that certain words would be pixilated - which was some time ago - I don't know what is different about the way the forum is moderated now than how it was before.gus ceasar is a legend wrote:Anyone who fancies the job can have it now!

One final thing, gooner.ed has already made it clear that if the forum is pulled down by the service provider once more, he won't bother putting it back up again. Now surely no-one wants that, no matter how disaffected they might be with perceived changes in the moderation/content?
As others have said, this forum has become more than just a talking shop or somewhere to have a laugh to most of us. Although I've yet to meet most of you, I feel like I've made new friends via the forum. It feels like a 'community'.
However, the reality is that it's up to us, the forum users - and that means more than just the mods (welcome aboard Spuddy ) - to make sure that the content we post on here doesn't contravene the established rules so that the forum doesn't get pulled once and for all.
So come on people, let's not throw away what most users consider to be the good thing we have here (sounds like the words to a love song!! )

Jesus Christ IHH, it was a joke, tongue in cheek!
I think everyone is getting a little too tense in here. Prissy seems to becoming the vogue!
Maybe Friday night as a protest went too far but the motives behind it were sound but nobody has chosen to think about that. Maybe look at the root cause as well as ticking off the naughty boys.
There are quite a few of the guys who were regulars here say a year ago who we see little of if at all now. Tony Saunders, 26th of May and even Belfast Boy to name but a few. Has anyone wondered why this has happened?
The place has become sanitised beyond belief and some of us are almost made to feel uncomfortable because our views fall outside of the general parameters here now.
Maybe some of us have had our run on here and it is time for pastures new. Fridays pissed up events were actually an attempt by both Wayno and myself to get banned from here, easy way out maybe. I think it says something that two of the highest contributors tried to force the situation.
Hey ho though, who cares as long as all is cosy and nobody dares rock the boat.
Or do we have to take nude pictures of ourselves to be accepted these days? No offence MrGnu.

Well fucking said that man! Most of us have actually made a few new mates through this place, people we now meet up with on match days etc and that is really cool.I Hate Hleb wrote:Come on Gus, an over-reaction surely? And congrats to Spudmasher - he'll make a great mod.
Gus, I hope you do stick around, as the forum would be much worse off without you and Wayno!
I suppose I'm only a new member, so I can't comment on the good ol'days on the forum, but since I joined in March, I think the humour on the forum has been pretty consistent up to now.. and the MODS aren't fussy either.
The main difference I've noticed, is that with the new season, a host of new members have joined too... but as you pointed out to IHH last week Gus, the banter hasn't got worse.
I don't know what sparked things off on Friday, as I didn't see an obvious complaint on the forum, even after the porn-gate fiasco so i'm still a little confused by the whole thing, to be honest.
