Naples CL away 11.12.2013 Travel etc

As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.

Would also be interested to see where people are staying for this.

Anyone else from here going?

I fancy they could fill the stadium with only Gooners allowed in, seems wrong to ban away fans for a home team issue.

Shame, Naples is the source of the best pizzas Ive ever eaten, think Cesc saved a couple from there

Naples is where the pizza originated.
if you want to try a really good one a bit closer to home then go to the little pizza restaurant in Neals Yard. Fucking amazing pizza 18" and only £20.

If they do play this infront of a crowd, do you think Arsenal will run a bus to and from the stadium as they did in Rome. They have cancelled the official trip it seems, so I hope they do.

As getting back from the ground looks very hard by public transport, as well as not very safe, as I expect police to keep Arsenal fans locked in for an hour after the game and the last Metro is at 21:30 so before full time in Italy.

not a nice trip, fair play to anyone going as they have a bunch of animals in their support. still very unsanitised place, ok you might think things would be decent enough in the ground but the san siro is a shithole, let alone the san paolo. this place I heard some pretty bad things. not to mention the policing over there is heavy handed to say the least.

A positive away experience in Italy is a rarity it seems :rubchin: . Always stories of fights breaking out or someone being stabbed just for wearing an opposition shirt :(

Good luck to everyone travelling out to the home of these scumbags

You can look forward to a bunch of cowardly wankers trying to ambush you when having a quiet drink and then being treated like the underneath of a tramp's shoe by the local police

Ive been to the stadium twice ,with England against Cameroon, that was OK but u had to watch out for yourself afterwards.
Been there with Juve and it wasn't pleasant even though a lot of southerners support Juve .
Would love to go but if I did Id make very sure of who i traveled with and would not be wearing colours ,and keeping a very low profile. Naples has somegreat restaurants and Bars but I wouldn't go to any in big groups as their home support are bonkers. It also has some of the worst areas on the planet ,as bad as Brasil and just as lawless and as poor. They are very skillful thieves too.

A 10-year-old once kicked me in the shin for not giving him a cigarette in Naples.

All in all then, a family friendly, tolerant and safe city to visit. Wear your shirts with pride and be sure to bring a nice visible England flag!
